Izzat al-Risheq, a member of the political bureau of Hamas confirmed the news to Al-Jazeera channel, explaining that the details of the truce agreement will be revealed in the coming hours.
The head of Hamas’ political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, said on Tuesday that the Palestinian Resistance movement is near a truce agreement with Israel, Reuters news agency reported.
“Hamas officials are ‘close to reaching a truce agreement’ with Israel and the group has delivered its response to Qatari mediators, Ismail Haniyeh said in a statement sent to Reuters by his aide,” the news agency wrote.

“Now, the issue is up to the brothers in Qatar, they will announce the truce agreement with Israel including its terms,” Izzat al-Risheq said.

Al-Risheq said that “the release of Israeli prisoners will be matched by the release of Palestinian prisoners from occupation prisons.”
Hamas’ top official added that before delivering the response regarding the truce proposal and its terms, Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh met with the Islamic Jihad group’s leader Ziyad al-Nakhalah.
The ceasefire would arrive at a critical time for Gazans, as the World Food Program announced that 2.2 million of all people in the Strip – nearly the total population of the small region – are in urgent need of food assistance.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Israel has, thus far, killed over 13,300 Palestinians, including over 5,600 children and over 3,550 women.
The Israeli army continues to pound civilian homes throughout the Gaza Strip with new massacres reported everywhere in the besieged enclave.
