The Al-Qassam Brigades released a response to Sharon Konyo’s plea for information on her husband, David Konyo, who remains imprisoned in Gaza.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Resistance Movement, Hamas, released a new video recording in response to a request from Sharon Konyo, a former Israeli prisoner, seeking a video showing the condition of her husband, David Konyo – who is still held in captivity.

Sharon Konyo, who was released in the first exchange deal in late November 2023, made a plea to the Palestinian resistance in a video message asking for information on her husband’s status.

The resistance video began with part of Sharon’s message, showing her with her husband and their two daughters, followed by scenes of her and the children’s release during the prisoner exchange.

The Al-Qassam video then included their response in three languages: Arabic, Hebrew, and English. The message read:

“David, after you were released and the military pressure increased, he may have been killed, injured, or is in good health. Netanyahu has not decided yet.”

Earlier, Al-Qassam had released a teaser clip hours before the full video, featuring Sharon’s message with the words “Coming soon… time is running out,” displayed in all three languages.

Despair is growing among the families of Israeli detainees as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government continues to obstruct negotiations for a deal to bring their loved ones home. Protests continue, demanding a prisoner exchange agreement.

In recent months, the Al-Qassam Brigades and the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, have released videos of Israeli prisoners urging their government to negotiate a deal to bring them home, holding Netanyahu responsible for their fate.

On Friday, Israeli public broadcasting cited foreign sources saying that Israel has agreed to advance negotiations on the second phase of the prisoner exchange deal with Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza, while the first phase is being implemented, amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza, with talks continuing in Doha.

In December 2024, Hamas announced the deaths of 33 Israeli prisoners held in Gaza, most of whom were killed by Israeli airstrikes on various areas of Gaza since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in October 2023.

The prisoner exchange talks, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, have faltered multiple times due to Netanyahu’s insistence on maintaining control over the Philadelphi border corridor between Gaza and Egypt and the Rafah crossing, as well as preventing the return of Palestinians to northern Gaza through the Netzarim corridor.

Hamas, on the other hand, demands Israel’s full withdrawal from Gaza and a complete halt to the genocidal war as preconditions for any deal.
