The armed wings of the Popular Resistance Committee and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine on Friday claimed responsibility for attacks on southern Israel.
The military wing of the PRC, the Nasser Saladin Brigades, said it fired several rockets towards Israeli cities in south Israel on Friday, including two “107” rockets toward Kissufim and a military target.
The PFLP’s military wing, the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, said it fired six 80 mm mortar missiles at Israeli tanks stationed east of Khan Younis.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said “no rockets landed in Israeli territory.”
Israeli airstrikes killed three members of Hamas’ military on Friday.
The Israeli military said fighting erupted when an explosive device went off as troops were clearing a tunnel from the Gaza Strip into Israel, allegedly to be used as a springboard for militant attacks.
During the operation, Hamas targeted the Israeli soldiers with an explosive device, wounding five of them, Israel’s army said.
In response, Israeli soldiers “opened fire and directly hit a terrorist” and Israeli warplanes struck “an additional terror tunnel located in the southern Gaza Strip,” the military added.
