“I repeat our urgent call for civilians to be protected in line with the laws of war and for aid to enter unimpeded” – President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Mirjana Spoljaric Egger.

President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Mirjana Spoljaric Egger arrived in the Gaza Strip on Monday where she stated that “people’s suffering is intolerable,” the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

“I repeat our urgent call for civilians to be protected in line with the laws of war and for aid to enter unimpeded,” she said on her official account on X.

“The last week provided a small degree of humanitarian respite, a positive glimpse of humanity that raised hopes around the world that a path to reduced suffering could now be found,” Spoljaric Egger said in a statement.

She added that the purpose of her visit is “to advance efforts that alleviate the devastating humanitarian toll the ongoing conflict is taking on civilians.”

Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed by Israeli airstrikes across various areas of Gaza since Friday morning, as Israel resumed its aggression after a seven-day truce, the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said in a statement.

A four-day truce began on Friday, November 24, was extended twice, and ended on Friday, December 1, at 7 am local time today.

Since October 7, over 15,899 Palestinians, including over 6,200 children and more than 4,000 women were killed, with another 41,316 wounded, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
