The assistant secretary general of the Arab League said on Wednesday that the Palestinians have started the third intifada. This, claimed Abdul Latif Obaid, is proof that they are persisting in their efforts to obtain their rights.
Speaking to Quds Press, Obaid said that the international community is again paying attention to the Palestinian issue and has “recognised that this must be dealt with.” He noted that the Arab League is doing its best to “support the Palestinians, defend them and find a just solution for their cause.” They are, he insisted, the only nation still being deprived of their rights and freedom.
Calling for the international community to take stronger action to put pressure on Israel to obey international laws and resolutions, he pointed out that, at the moment, such responses are “far below the level needed.”
Although some of the Arab countries are still suffering from external interventions, concluded Obaid, “the populations are doing their best to support the Palestinian people.”
