Suleiman dedicated the award to the people of Gaza for their heroism and steadfastness against the Israel criminal war machine.
Palestinian researcher Jaber Suleiman won the 2023 ‘Spanish Commission for Refugees’ (CEAR) award for the entirety of his work on refugee studies and activism in the field of Palestinian refugees’ basic human rights, including the right of return.
Suleiman told ‘The Palestine Chronicle’ that he is proud to win the prestigious award because it comes as a recognition of his efforts and contributions to the refugee issue and the right of return on both the research and activism level.
The Palestinian researcher said that the timing of the award is crucial because it comes while the Palestinian people are being subjected to genocide, ethnic cleansing and forced displacement, which makes it even more pertinent to underline their plight and continuous struggle against a coalition of colonial powers represented by Israel and US.
Suleiman dedicated the award to the people of Gaza for their heroism and steadfastness against the Israel criminal war machine.
The award will be presented to Suleiman on International Migrants Day on the 18th of December, at CEAR Awards Ceremony in Madrid. The Palestinian researcher will be handed a replica of the sculpture ‘Spiral of the Wind’ by Canarian Artist Martín Chirino López.
He will then conduct a weeklong tour in a number of Spanish cities to give talks on the issue of Palestinian refugees and the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza.
It has to be mentioned that ‘The Spanish Commission for Refugees’ (CEAR) is a non-governmental organization founded in 1979 on strong ethical values embodied in justice, solidarity, freedom, equality, plurality, transparency and coherence.
Its approach is based on volunteer, humanitarian, independent and plural activism.
