A Palestinian succumbed to his injuries on Friday evening after being shot in the head by Israeli forces during a demonstration in the Gaza Strip last week, Gaza’s Ministry of Health said.
Ashraf al-Qidra identified the man as Yahya Karira, 20, from al-Tuffah neighborhood. He told Ma’an that Karira was shot when clashes erupted between Israeli forces and Palestinians in Nahal Oz in the eastern Gaza Strip.
Karira is the 16th Palestinian to be killed by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the month. Fourteen have been shot with live ammunition during clashes, and a two-year-old and her pregnant mother were killed in an Israeli airstrike.
Karira’s death comes as clashes continued across the Gaza Strip on Friday, leaving around 65 Palestinians injured with live fire, rubber-coated bullets, and tear gas during clashes, the ministry told Ma’an.
Spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Ashraf al-Qidra, said 65 people were injured including dozens who suffered from tear gas inhalation and were treated on the scene.
Al-Qidra said six were injured east of al-Shujaiyya, including one with live fire in the foot and two with rubber-coated steel bullets in the feet.
Five were injured in the northern Gaza Strip including two by live bullets in the feet, and one with a rubber-coated steel bullet in the head.
In Khan Younis, four Palestinians were shot with live fire and are in a serious condition, one of whom was shot in the stomach, while one Palestinian was shot with live fire during a demonstration near Beit Hanoun, the ministry added.
