The Palestinian presidency condemned on Tuesday Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s approval of the construction of 300 housing units in the settlement of Beit El, north of Ramallah, as well as approving the construction of 31 settlement units in the heart of Hebron.
Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, said settlements are illegal and condemned by the Arabs and the international community as well as being in violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly resolution 2334.

“This settlement assault comes at a time when the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is exerting effort and creating the conditions that will pave the way for making a real peace,” he said.
Abu Rudeineh said that Netanyahu is defying the world, especially the Trump administration, by insisting on continuing with settlement activity in the territory of the State of Palestine, stressing that neither peace nor stability can be achieved without Israel’s adherence to United Nations and Security Council resolutions.
