“I took my inspiration from photographs of the Nakba in 1948. My own grandmother was there with seven of her children, trudging through the desert.
“My uncle told me that my grandfather had been captured by the Zionists and placed in a prison camp. He escaped after 6 months but later died in Ramallah upon seeing a small child killed in front of him while he sat at a cafe. He had a heart attack.” — Nicole Hanhan
