A new poll published on Tuesday by the Arab-American Institute revealed that only 17% of Arab-American voters plan to vote for Joe Biden in 2024, with a decline of 42% from the 59% of Arab-American voters who voted for him in 2020.
According to the institute, the dramatic drop in Arab-American support for Biden and the Democratic Party is due to the “negative view of President Biden’s response to the current violence in Palestine and Israel”.

James Zogby, the founder and president of the Arab American Institute, told American News magazine Time that “this is the most dramatic shift over the shortest period of time that I’ve ever seen.”
Time magazine quoted Maysoon Zayid – a Palestinian-American comedian and Democratic Party activist who campaigned for Biden in 2020 – as saying: “Joe Biden is president right now and the genocide is happening right now—every other hypothetical is of no concern to me.”

Arab-American dissatisfaction extends beyond Biden and has a “dramatic impact on party preference.”
According to the Arab American Institute, “this poll marks the first time in our 26 years of polling Arab American voters in which a majority did not claim to prefer the Democratic Party.”
23% identify with the Democratic Party, 31% identify as independent, and 32% identify as Republican.
These numbers are particularly worrisome for the Democratic Party in key states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia, where the Arab-American populations are larger than Biden’s 2020 margins of victory.

More than half of the 3 million Arab Americans residing in the US voted for Biden in 2020, according to Time magazine.
Israel has, thus far, killed over 8,796 Palestinians in Gaza, including 3,648 children and 2,290 women, and wounded more than 23,000. Palestinian Ministry of Health reports and international organizations say that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.
The Biden administration has declared staunch support for Israel and has repeatedly refused to back a ceasefire to end Israel’s bombardment of Gaza.
