Senior leader of the Palestinian Popular Front Khalida Jarrar said yesterday that she is being imprisoned for political reasons, stressing that the Israeli judicial system is silencing any voice that discloses Israeli crimes, the Safa news agency reported.
During her meeting with the lawyer of the PLO Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission in the Israeli prisoner of Hasharon, Jarrar said that the Israeli court rejected an appeal against her imprisonment because she has parliamentary immunity.
She stressed that the court wanted to leave her in prison for the longest time, adding: “I did not expect anything from the Israeli military courts more than this. They are a big play and I’ve had no credibility for them since the first day I was put in prison.”
Jarrar reiterated that she was put in prison for political reasons, noting that she refused to stand up in the court and recognise its legitimacy.
The MP stressed that all the accusations claimed by the Israeli occupation as “silly” as they were hollow statements related to illegal activities and social and political work as an MP.
She described how difficult the situation is for female detainees in Israeli jails, stressing that prison officials do not care for sick prisoners or take any special needs into account.
