In a statement, the Jenin Brigade of Saraya Al-Quds, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, confirmed that Hanoun, one of its “field commanders”, was killed in the attack. The statement also said that Hanoun was “previously jailed by Israel for his involvement in Islamic Jihad activities.”
Since October 7, the Israeli army has launched a series of incursions and military operations in the Jenin camp, during which many Palestinians have been killed and scores arrested.
In parallel with the war in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army escalated its incursions into cities, towns and refugee camps in the West Bank.
