Israeli troops demolish four Palestinian houses in the east of Tel Aviv-occupied West Bank, which they claim were endangering an archaeological site located nearby besides having been built ‘illegally.’

“They are in the area of the Hasmonean palace and were built illegally, without a permit,” said Guy Inbar, a spokesperson with the Israeli Ministry of Military Affairs on Thursday.
 
Inbar further said that the Palestinian home owners had been warned several times since 2008 about potential demolition.
 
Another four homes were razed by Israel in the same area in November, 2011. Tel Aviv had likewise deemed the houses to be threatening the archaeological site.
 
According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), Israeli troopers demolished 431 Palestinian buildings throughout 2010 and another 356 in the first six months of 2011. More than 1000 Palestinians were displaced due to the destructions in 2011.
 
The destructions have been carried out coincidental with Israel’s building illegal Jewish settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem (al-Quds).
 
Tel Aviv occupied the two Palestinian territories in 1967 and later annexed them. The international community has refused to recognize either move.
