The family of Wael al-Dahdouh, Al-Jazeera correspondent from Gaza, was killed in an Israeli shelling in Nuseirat.
For years, Wael al-Dahdouh stood against a recurring background of Israeli wars on Gaza, reporting on the losses suffered by his community, neighborhood and friends.
This time, however, still wearing his press uniform, al-Dahdouh was distracted by something else: the murder of his family by Israel.

Al-Dahdouh’s wife, son and daughter, were killed in an Israeli shelling that targeted a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
The family had fled northern Gaza and sought shelter in other parts of the besieged Strip, like thousands of other families.
In a typical, tragic scene, al-Dahdouh kneeled over his son’s body, sobbing, while friends, all in blue press vests, tried to comfort him.
Al-Dahdouh is known for his accurate and composed reporting on the Israeli war and the numerous massacres that wiped out whole families.

His focus throughout the 19 days of war was situated within the very difficult humanitarian scene in Gaza, often reporting from top of rubble of destroyed Gaza homes.
“It seems that the targeting of the Dahdouh family comes as a kind of Israeli retaliation against Al-Jazeera as a result of its continuous coverage of the Israeli war and the massacres it is committing against the Palestinians besieged in the Gaza Strip,” Al-Jazeera Net reported.
Many journalists and, or their families have been killed in the Israeli war on Gaza, described by many international law experts as genocide.
Our Condolences:
The Palestine Chronicle sends its condolences to Wael al-Dadhouh and the extended Al-Dahdouh family everywhere for the tragic loss of their members. We also stand in solidarity with all of our colleagues in Gaza who have been targeted by Israel in wholesale massacres, which are still underway in the besieged Strip. We also send our condolences to all Palestinian journalists in the shataat (diaspora) who have lost family members in Gaza.
