Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations said that “Israel is an occupying state” and has no right to defend itself.
Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, affirmed that “Israel” is an occupying state and has no right to defend itself, calling for an end to the bloodshed, to avoid expanding the scope of the crisis to the entire region.
Nebenzia also stressed the need to allow the mediators to work on finding a “diplomatic solution, including the immediate release of prisoners.”
He believed that a diplomatic solution would have to be found, sooner or later, but the question was “How many innocent people will die during this time.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Russia and China’s representatives in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) urged the United States to cooperate on a resolution that would ensure a ceasefire between the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza and the Israeli occupation.
Nebenzia also emphasized the need to hold “regular open briefings” on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
The diplomat stressed the need to make the humanitarian situation a focal point of the UNSC, reiterating the need for an immediate ceasefire that the United States opposes.
Nebenzia underlined the United States’ role in paralyzing the UN body’s adoption of an immediate ceasefire.
“This polling situation has also been close due to the US position the Security Council has essentially been paralyzed and has still not been able to adopt a resolution with an immediate ceasefire.”
“This polling situation has also been close due to the US position the Security Council has essentially been paralyzed and has still not been able to adopt a resolution with an immediate ceasefire,” he added.
The Representative underscored Washington’s votes against two Russian resolutions, which he described as clear American and Israeli attempts to either eradicate Gaza’s population or forcibly displace them from the Strip.
Nenebzia also questioned other Western states from abstaining from Russia’s draft resolution.
Israel has, thus far, killed over 8,796 Palestinians in Gaza, including 3,648 children and 2,290 women, and wounded more than 23,000. Palestinian Ministry of Health reports and international organizations say that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.
Despite a massive Israeli military buildup around the Gaza borders and sporadic infiltrations on the outskirts of the besieged Strip, Palestinian Resistance continues to repel Israeli attacks.
To justify its military failure, the Israeli army continues to pound civilian homes throughout the Gaza Strip with new massacres reported everywhere in the besieged enclave.
Gaza has been under a tight Israeli military siege since 2007, following a democratic election in occupied Palestine, the results of which were rejected by Tel Aviv and Washington.

The Jews in Israel’s leadership will continue their genocide on Palestinians until it’s complete. They will also force any other people having religions other than Judaism to leave the country. They call that place a Jewish State, and they mean it. That means no democracy. It’s arrogance beyond belief. No, they have no right to self defense while living on stolen land. THEY should cleave, not Palestinians. The country IS Palestine, after all.
