A senior Hamas official has criticized the leaders of the Arab League for what he called their failure to defend the Palestinians during their summit in Libya.
Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said in a statement on Monday that the Arab leaders just "killed time" during their two-day meeting in the Mediterranean city of Sirte.
The Arab states’ stance in the summit failed to satisfy Palestinian aspirations for breaking the Gaza siege and protecting the holy Islamic sites, Barhoum said.
Such summits would only "embolden the Zionist enemy in violating the Palestinian people’s rights", IRNA quoted him as saying.
Barhoum said the summit, which wrapped up on Sunday, failed to find practical initiatives to put an end to Palestinian suffering.
