The Israeli army acknowledged that ten soldiers were killed and seven others were injured on Tuesday night in the fierce battles taking place in the northern Gaza Strip, Al-Jazeera reported.
According to the Israeli army statement, most of them were officers, including a division commander in the Golani Brigade.
The Israeli army first said in a statement that eight soldiers had been killed in an ambush set up by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas, in the Shejaiya neighborhood in Gaza City, north of the Strip.
Later, the Israeli army announced the killing of two additional soldiers, including a commander in the Yiftah Brigade.
Fierce Battles
The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted military sources in the Israeli army as saying that the battles in the Shejaiya neighborhood are particularly violent, according to Al-Jazeera.
The military sources added that it is impossible to destroy the Shejaiya battalion of the Al-Qassam Brigades with aerial bombardment, and that most of the fighters come from the neighboring Al-Daraj and Al-Tuffah neighborhoods and surprise the Israeli forces.
In a just-released video, Al-Qassam fighters are seen clashing with the enemy vehicles invading the axes of the city of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

A ‘Graveyard for Invaders’
Commenting on the killing of Israeli soldiers, Hamas said in a statement on Wednesday that the Mujahideen of the Al-Qassam Brigades “are fulfilling their promise to make Gaza a graveyard for the invaders.”
The Israeli army’s “announcement of the killing of ten, most of them officers, last night in Shejaiya, east of Gaza, and the increasing number of their deaths in the various fronts of the fighting, confirms the extent of the loss and failure of the leaders of the entity and its army in confronting the might of the resistance and Al-Qassam Brigades,” the statement added.
“We say to the Zionists that your failed leadership has no regard for the lives of your soldiers, and you have no choice but to withdraw from Gaza,” the statement concluded.
Friendly Fire
Israeli medical sources also announced that 30 Israeli soldiers who had been wounded in Gaza were transferred on Tuesday for treatment in Israeli hospitals.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli occupation army announced the killing of 20 of its soldiers due to ‘friendly fire’ and ‘military accidents’ in the ongoing ground operations in the Gaza Strip.
The Al-Qassam Brigades just released a video reportedly showing part of the operation to monitor the Israeli army's tents before planting explosive devices and detonating them on December 4, in the Juhr al-Dik area, east of central #Gaza.

Al-Qassam Brigades
The Al-Qassam Brigades confirmed that its fighters were able to kill more than 15 Israeli soldiers, including a sniper, in the Shejaiya neighborhood.
According to a statement issued by the Brigades, Al-Qassam targeted an Israeli infantry force of 20 soldiers barricaded inside a building with anti-fortified and anti-personnel shells, killing and wounding them in the Sheikh Radwan area of Gaza City.
The Al-Qassam Brigades also announced the targeting of Israeli field command headquarters in the southern axis of Gaza City with the 114 mm short-range Rajum missile system.
In a just-released video, Al Qassam Brigades members are seen destroying and burning several Israeli tanks at Al Shuja'iyeh neighborhood in eastern Gaza City. Several Israeli soldiers were reportedly burned and killed.

Al-Qassam said that its fighters also targeted 11 vehicles and troop carriers in the Sheikh Radwan, Al-Tawam and Shuja’iya neighborhoods with various shells.
Moreover, they reportedly detonated two explosive devices in an Israeli dismounted force of ten soldiers east of Khan Yunis, leaving them dead and wounded.
According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, 18,412 Palestinians have been killed and more than 50,000 wounded in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza starting on October 7. Palestinian and international estimates say that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.
