Jerusalem’s Grand Mufti, Mohammad Hussein, who is also the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, denounced the recent Israeli violations of the mosque when Israeli police forcefully entered the mosque.

Hussein said the process of changing Al-Aqsa’s historical status has been dramatically accelerated by Israeli authorities, MEMO reported.

Hussein noted that the Israeli aggression comes during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, adding that those who storm the mosque now include more members of the army and members of Israeli intelligence, in addition to extremists.

MEMO reported Hussein saying that Muslims are facing increasing Israeli restriction with regard to entering the mosque, especially during Ramadan.

The Israeli authorities have not only cancelled entry permits for Palestinians, but they have also adopted measures to prevent Jerusalem’s residents from entering the mosque.
