The Israeli raid marked the first time the al-Buss camp near the city of Sour had been targeted since the start of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon.
The Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas announced on Monday the killing of its leader in Lebanon, Fateh Sharif, also known as Abu al-Amin.
Sharif was killed along with his wife, son, and daughter in an Israeli airstrike that targeted their home in the al-Buss refugee camp in South Lebanon.
The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that the Israeli raid marked the first time the al-Buss camp near the city of Tyre had been targeted since the start of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon.

In a statement, Hamas confirmed that Abu al-Amin was killed during the ongoing Israeli aggression.
“He passed at dawn today after a treacherous and criminal assassination that targeted him, his fighting wife, his son, and daughter, in an airstrike on their home in the Al-Buss camp in southern Lebanon,” the statement read.
Hamas described Sharif as a “tireless flame of energy, brave and resolute, and a cornerstone of national (and) educational work”.
“You excelled in your role as an educator, where you were a successful teacher and a distinguished principal. The school you managed always stood out among the best, graduating generations of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon,” Hamas also said.
Earlier on Sunday, Israel also conducted an airstrike in Beirut, killing three members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), including two senior leaders, in a residential building in the Cola area.
This marked the first Israeli strike on the Lebanese capital outside of its southern suburbs.
The Lebanese Health Ministry said on Saturday that Israeli attacks had killed more than 1,000 people in the previous two weeks, including 87 children and 56 women.
The number, however, is likely to increase as according to Lebanese authorities, 136 were killed in Israeli attacks in the past 24 hours alone.
“After more than 11 months of war, an estimated 177,000 women face life-threatening health risks.”
Some 15,000 pregnant women are “on the brink of famine” in the besieged Gaza Strip, as thousands of women facing life-threatening health risks, UN Women have warned.
“According to the United Nations Population Fund, among 155,000 pregnant women and new mothers in Gaza, 15,000 pregnant women are on the brink of famine,” the report titled Gaza: A War on Women’s Health states.
It provides a comprehensive analysis of the health crisis women face during the conflict since October 7, and draws on interviews and surveys conducted across Gaza to highlight the intersection of gender, health, and conflict.
The alert explored how the conflict has affected women’s physical and mental health and was intended to support evidence-based advocacy and services.
“Nearly 84 per cent of health facility buildings have been destroyed or damaged, and those remaining in service lack medicines, ambulances, basic life-saving treatment, electricity, and water,” the report detailed.
Public Health Crisis
It stated that the war has caused a catastrophic public health crisis, leading to a spike in preventable deaths, the rapid spread of diseases, and high rates of physical and mental illnesses.
UN Women has released a report on the situation in Gaza titled “Gaza: A War on Women’s Health.”

“After more than 11 months of war, an estimated 177,000 women face life-threatening health risks, including from non-communicable diseases and hunger and poor nutrition during pregnancy,” the report concluded.
An estimated 155,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women confront obstacles to antenatal and postnatal care.
Among pregnant women interviewed, almost all experienced challenges related to nutrition, with “some 69 per cent having experienced complications such as urinary tract infections, anaemia, pre-term labour and hypertensive disorders.”
More than 162,000 women suffer from or are at risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
“Women,in particular older women, in Gaza have historically been at a higher risk of NCDs,” according to the data provided.
Cancer Patients
There are over 30,841 women at risk of diabetes, 107,443 women at risk of hypertension, 18,583 women at risk of cardiovascular diseases, and 5,201 women with cancer.”
Long, brutal months of war have brought Gaza's health system to the brink of collapse.
The survey found that more than 5,000 female cancer patients need immediate treatment, but all services have been suspended.
“Too many women in Gaza are at risk of dying from medical complications after months without any medication, limited access to doctors and no treatment for serious illnesses like diabetes or cancer,” said UN Women’s Regional Director for Arab States, Moez Doraid.
“It is imperative that we act swiftly to save their lives. An immediate and sustainable ceasefire, the release of all hostages, the provision of safe, unimpeded humanitarian aid, and access to medicines and health services throughout Gaza are essential to prevent further deterioration,” Doraid added.
Overcrowding and Insufficient Water
Severe overcrowding in shelters and insufficient water and sanitation “have led to hundreds of thousands of cases of acute respiratory infections, jaundice, diarrhoea and skin rashes.”
Women and girls, UN Women found, face a heightened risk of exposure due to their disproportionate role in caring for sick family members.
Twice as many women as men reported having skin infections, and women accounted for more than two-thirds of cases of gastrointestinal diseases and Hepatitis A.
“Lebanon is experiencing the largest wave of displacement in its history.”
Some 100,000 Lebanese and Syrian nationals have fled from Lebanon to Syria amid the ongoing Israeli strikes, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees has said.
“The number of people who have crossed into Syria from Lebanon fleeing Israeli airstrikes — Lebanese and Syrian nationals — has reached 100,000. The outflow continues,” Filippo Grandi said on X on Monday.
“UNHCR is present at four crossing points alongside local authorities and @SYRedCrescent to support new arrivals,” Grandi added.
He earlier highlighted that “Some are Syrians who fled war in their country, now to be bombed in the country where they sought refuge. The region cannot afford a new displacement crisis.”
‘Diplomatic Efforts’
On Sunday, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said that around one million people have been displaced due to Israeli attacks, marking the largest wave of displacement in the country’s history, the Anadolu news agency reported.
The number of people who have crossed into Syria from Lebanon fleeing Israeli airstrikes — Lebanese and Syrian nationals — has reached 100,000. The outflow continues.
“Lebanon is experiencing the largest wave of displacement in its history,” he told a press conference following a meeting of the government’s emergency committee in Beirut.
“Our priority is to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression through continued diplomatic efforts. We have no other choice,” Mikati noted.
The Israeli army has pounded Lebanon since Sept. 23, killing at least 816 people and injuring over 2,500, the Lebanese Health Ministry said.
Intensified Fighting
Since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza, on October 7, the Lebanese movement Hezbollah has engaged directly, but relatively in a limited way in the war against the Israeli occupation.
In recent weeks, however, the intensity of the fighting has increased, leading to concerns that an all-out war between Hezbollah and the Israeli army is imminent.
Israel has occupied parts of Lebanon for decades and has only left the country in 2000, following stiff Lebanese resistance under Hezbollah’s leadership.
Israel attempted to re-occupy Lebanon in 2006 but failed in what Lebanon considers a major victory against Israel.
Israel, however, continues to occupy parts of Lebanon, namely the Sheeba Farms region.
Hezbollah has vowed to recover every inch of Lebanon that has been occupied by Israel contrary to international law.
The 79th UN General Assembly, which brought together leaders and representatives from 193 UN member states in New York for one week in September, was marked by Israel’s attacks on Gaza and Lebanon and calls for reform of the organization.
The major diplomatic event, held from September 24 – 30, welcomed 76 heads of state, four princes, two heads of government, 42 deputy prime ministers, nine ministers, 54 deputy ministers and the European Union delegation, according to the Anadolu news agency.
It’s Genocide – Iran
Masoud Pezeshkian, the Iranian president said that the world has witnessed Israeli atrocities in Gaza, which “in eleven months has murdered in cold blood over 41,000 innocent people, mostly women and children.”
????President Masoud Pezeshkian addressing the 79th #UNGA: “[The World] has witnessed how the [Israeli] regime carries out atrocities in Gaza and in 11 months has murdered in cold blood over 41,000 innocent people, mostly women and children. — Embassy of the State of Palestine – South Africa (@PalEmbassyZa) September 25, 2024
“Its leaders label this genocide; the killing of children, war crimes, and state-terrorism as ‘legitimate self-defense’; they label hospitals, kindergartens, and schools as ‘legitimate military targets’; they label the freedom-loving and brave people around the world who protest against their genocide as ‘anti-Semitic’; they label an oppressed people, who have stood up against seven decades of occupation and humiliation, as ‘terrorists’.”
Pezeshkian said “Israel has been defeated in Gaza and no amount of barbaric violence can restore its myth of invincibility. “
He also pointed out that “blind Israeli state terrorism over the past few days in Lebanon followed by a massive aggression with thousands of victims cannot go unanswered.”
“The responsibility for all consequences will be born by those who have thwarted all global efforts to end this horrific catastrophe, and have the audacity to call themselves champions of human rights,” he said.
Israel Must Be Stopped – Türkiye
Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on the international community to take action regarding the Gaza crisis, pointing out that the situation in the enclave highlights the UN’s failure to fulfill its duties.
“We observe with regret that in recent years, the United Nations is struggling to fulfill its founding mission and is gradually turning into a dysfunctional, unwieldy and inert structure,” Erdogan said.
“Hitler 70 yıl önce nasıl insanlığın ittifakıyla durdurulduysa Netanyahu ve cinayet şebekesi de insanlığın ittifakıyla durdurulmalıdır. BM Genel Kurulunun kuvvet kullanma tavsiyesinde bulunma yetkisi mutlaka değerlendirilmelidir.” pic.twitter.com/RgdD02hTY2
He recalled his slogan “The world is bigger than five,” referring to the UN Security Council’s unrepresentative membership, the report said.
“I am asking you frankly from here…Human rights organizations! Are those in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, not human beings? The children in Palestine, do they not have the right to study, live, and play in the streets,” he asked.
“International media organizations! The journalists that Israel massacred on live television, whose offices were raided, are they not your colleagues?” Erdogan added.
To the UN Security Council, he said “What are you waiting for to prevent the genocide in Gaza and to put a ‘stop’ to this cruelty, this barbarism?”
“What more are you waiting for to stop the massacre network that endangers also the lives of its own citizens along with the Palestinian people and drags the entire region into war for the sake of its political prospects?” the president continued.
He further asked of “those who unconditionally support Israel,” for how long “will you continue to bear the shame of looking on this massacre, of being its accomplices?”
“Just as Hitler was stopped by the alliance of humanity 70 years ago, Netanyahu and his murder network must be stopped by the alliance of humanity,” he asserted.
‘We Will Not Remain Silent’ – South Africa
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said Palestinians continue to be subjected to “more than half a century of apartheid.”
“We will not remain silent and watch as apartheid is perpetrated against others,” he stressed.

“The Security Council has not fulfilled its mandate to maintain international peace and security,” Ramaphosa stated, adding the Council “must be reformed as a matter of urgency. It must become more inclusive so that the voices of all nations are heard and considered.”
Greatest Humanitarian Crisis – Brazil
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva emphasized the need to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, the occupied West Bank and Lebanon.
“In Gaza and the West Bank, we are witnessing one of the greatest humanitarian crises in recent history, now spreading dangerously to Lebanon,” Lula said.

Pointing out the “collective punishment” of the entire Palestinian people, he said that “The right to defense has become the right to vengeance,”
He proposed a “comprehensive review” of the UN Charter and called for urgent reforms within the organization itself.
Lula advocated for the Security Council to reconsider its exclusionary practices regarding permanent seats for Latin American and African countries.
“The exclusion of Latin America and Africa from permanent seats on the Security Council is an unacceptable echo of domination from the colonial past,” the Brazilian president said.
Murder of Civilians Must Stop Russia
Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, said “The murder of Palestinian civilians by US weapons must stop.”
???? BREAKING: Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov at the United Nations General Assembly:
“The killing of Palestinian civilians with US weapons must be IMMEDIATELY ENDED!” pic.twitter.com/Nmrubbfy8c
He emphasized that the delivery of humanitarian aid to the enclave “must be ensured, the restoration of infrastructure must be arranged and, most importantly, the implementation of the legitimate right of self-determination of the Palestinians must be guaranteed, and they must be allowed to establish a territorially integral and viable state within the borders of 1967 with its capital in East Jerusalem, not in words but in deeds, ‘on the ground’.”
Lavrov added “Another blatant example of the use of terrorist methods to achieve political goals is the attack on Lebanon, in which civilian technology was turned into a deadly weapon. This crime must be investigated immediately.”
He added, “It is already impossible to ignore the numerous publications in the media, including in Europe and the United States, which prove the various levels of Washington’s involvement and, at the very least, its awareness of the preparation of a terrorist attack.”

Crime of Extermination – Venezuela
Yvan Gil Pinto, Foreign Affairs Minister of Venezuela, said: “As we speak in this Assembly, bombs are being dropped on Gaza, where Israel has murdered tens of thousands of innocent girls, boys, women and men, with the complicity of the governments of the United States of America and the European Union.”
He said that the “greatest crime of extermination and genocide since the one committed by Hitler in the Second World War is currently being perpetrated.”

“Today, they intend to export their hatred and destruction to an entire region, bombing and murdering innocent people in Lebanon and Syria, as they try to destabilize the Islamic Republic of Iran. This is a real threat to both humanity and world peace,” he added.
“A new form of terrorism has been applied to Lebanon, with the complicity of private companies that manage the supply chains of mass consumer technologies. It sets a severe precedent, putting global security at risk. They also bomb civilian infrastructure in that brotherly country, killing innocent people, just as they do in Gaza. Israel has truly become a death machine that must be stopped immediately.”
Barbaric and Heinous Assault – Qatar
Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani described Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza as “the most barbaric and heinous and extensive in breaching human values, international charters and norms.”

He called for an end to the attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, accusing Israel of committing genocide.
“This is not a war as commonly understood in international relations, but a crime of genocide, by means sophisticated weapons against a people trapped in a detention camp, where there is no escape from a barrage of aerial bombing,” he said.
The Emir said it was unfortunate that “the Security Council has failed to implement its ceasefire resolution in the Gaza Strip and to refrain from granting the state of Palestine full membership status in the United Nations despite the General Assembly’s adoption of a resolution supporting Palestine’s request for UN membership last May.”
He added, “The State of Palestine’s full UN membership neither establishes its sovereignty nor ends the occupation, but at least it sends a clear message to the far-right government involved in challenging international legitimacy that force does not eliminate rights.”
Occupying Usurpers – Palestine
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas declared that “Palestine will remain ours. And if anyone were to leave, it will be the occupying usurpers.”
?? President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas: "We will not leave, we will not leave, we will not leave. — Embassy of the State of Palestine – South Africa (@PalEmbassyZa) September 27, 2024
He highlighted that Palestinians have endured nearly a year of Israel’s “crime.”
“It is the crime of a full-scale war of genocide that Israel is perpetrating. A crime that has killed more than 40,000 martyrs in Gaza alone, and thousands remain under the rubble. A crime that has injured more than 100,000 injured to this day,” Abbas stressed.
He implored, “Stop this crime, stop it now. Stop killing children and women. Stop the genocide. Stop sending weapons to Israel. This madness cannot continue.”
Israel is Committing Genocide – Namibia
President of the Republic of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba said: “As a country that has endured genocide, Namibia believes that Israel, by intent and by action, is committing genocide.”
Destroying Humanity – Colombia
Gustavo Petro Urrego, President of Colombia, said: “A year ago I called for a peace conference for Palestine on this very spot, before the first bomb had even gone off.

“Today we have 20,000 children murdered under the bombs while the presidents of human destruction countries are laughing in these corridors, assisted by the communication power of the global media, which today are owned by big capital, rearrange the world without democracy, without freedom.”
He said “Even though we are the majority of the presidents of the world and represent the majority of humanity, we are not listened to by a minority of presidents who can stop the bombing. In other words, we are not being listened to by the presidents of the countries that can destroy humanity.”
Bloodshed and Suffering – Slovenia
Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob banged on the General Assembly podium, calling on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to put an immediate end to the “bloodshed and suffering.”

“I want to say this out loud and clear to the Israeli government: Stop the bloodshed, stop the suffering, bring the hostages home, and end the occupation,” Golob demanded. “Mr. Netanyahu, stop this war now.”
Systematic Slaughter – Pakistan
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also pounded his fist on the table and condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and Lebanon, describing them as a “systematic slaughter of innocent people.”

“Can we, as human beings, remain silent while children lie buried under the rubble of their shattered homes?ِ Can we turn a blind eye to the mothers, cradling the lifeless bodies of their children?ِ” he asked.
“We must work for a durable peace through the two-state solution. We must seek a viable, secure, contiguous and sovereign state of Palestine,” Sharif emphasized. “And to advance these goals, Palestine must also be immediately admitted as a full member of the United Nations.”
Unprecedented Scale of Terror – Jordan
Jordan’s King Abdullah II said, “The attacks of October 7 on Israeli civilians last year were condemned by countries all over the world, including Jordan, but the unprecedented scale of terror unleashed on Gaza since that day is beyond any justification.”
“This Israeli government has killed more children, more journalists, more aid workers and more medical personnel than any other war in recent memory,” he stated, adding that the world and history would judge its leaders.
Step Back from Brink – United Kingdom
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called on Israel to “stop the violence. Step back from the brink,” while French President Emmanuel Macron said the war on Gaza “has gone on too long,” urging Israel to also “cease escalation in Lebanon.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who received standing ovations in the US Congress in July, faced protests at the UN General Assembly, which represents the international community.
Many delegations walked out of the hall in protest during his speech, leaving Netanyahu to address a nearly empty hall, with applause coming primarily from the gallery reserved for guests, filled with Israel’s delegation and their invitees.
Although the Pope did not mention Israel by name implying that he is speaking in general terms, he stressed that any military response should be proportional to the attack.
Pope Francis slammed on Sunday Israel’s aggression on Gaza and Lebanon as “immoral” and “disproportionate,” stressing that Tel Aviv’s military domination has surpassed the rules of war.
“Even in war, there is morality to be safeguarded. War is immoral, but the rules of war indicate some morality. But when this is not respected, you can see—as we say in Argentina—the “bad blood” of these things,” the Pope said.
The Pope was asked aboard the Papal plane following a four-day visit to Luxembourg and Belgium, about Israel’s assassination of Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah on Friday in a targeted attack that claimed the lives of many and leveled to the ground a bloc of buildings.
“What you are telling me—I didn’t quite understand how things have been (evolving)—but defense must always be proportionate to the attack,” the Pope said.
“When there is something disproportionate, a domineering tendency that goes beyond morality is evident,” he added.
Although the Pope did not mention Israel by name implying that he is speaking in general terms, he stressed that any military response should be proportional to the attack.
“A country that, with its forces, does these things – I’m talking about any country – that does these things in such a ‘superlative’ way, these are immoral actions,” the Pope stressed.
The Pope told reporters that he is in daily contact with the Parish of Gaza to check on the people stuck there.
“Every day I call the parish of Gaza. More than 600 people are there, inside the parish and the college, and they tell me about the things that are happening, including the cruelties that are occurring there,” Pope Francis said.
Condemnation of Israeli Crimes
Pope Francis has denounced on September 13 on Friday the killing of Palestinian children by Israeli occupation forces labeling the targeting of schools for allegedly striking Hamas resistance fighters, as “ugly”, Reuters news agency reported.
The Pontiff reportedly made the comments while on a flight back to Rome from Singapore voicing his skepticism over the parties’ desire to end the nearly one-year war.
“I am sorry to have to say this,” Pope Francis said. “But I do not think that they are taking steps to make peace.”
The Pope revealed that he communicates daily over the phone with members of a Catholic parish in Gaza.
“They tell me ugly things, difficult things,” Pope Francis stated in reference to his conversations with the Catholic parish in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Pope Francis has repeatedly called for an end to the war, praying especially for Christians sheltered in the Holy Family Catholic Parish in Gaza.
On December 17 of last year, during the Angelus prayer, the Pope said he continues to receive troubling news from Gaza, where “unarmed civilians are the targets of bombings and gunfire.”
Pope Francis also condemned an attack on the compound of the Catholic parish, “where there are no terrorists, but families, children, people who are sick and have disabilities, and nuns.”
“A mother, Mrs. Nahida Khalil Anton, and her daughter, Samar Kamal Anton, were killed, and others were wounded by the shooters while they were going to the bathroom,” the Pope said.
Nearly two-thirds of the new immigrants have settled in just six cities, with Netanya, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, Bat Yam and Ashdod being the top choices.
The number of Jewish immigrants who have moved to Israel has significantly declined since Israel launched its aggression on Gaza in October last year, compared to the year before, according to Israeli media reports cited by the Middle East Monitor (MEMO).
The Hebrew Walla website said during the ongoing war about 31,000 Jews moved to Israel, coming from more than 100 different countries; a 50 percent decrease from the previous year when 46,000 new immigrants arrived in the country.
The website said that according to data published by the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration and the Jewish Agency, about 19,850 Jews came from Russia followed by the United States and Canada with 3,340 immigrants, France 1,820, Ukraine 980, and Belarus 795.
Nearly two-thirds of the new immigrants have settled in just six cities, with Netanya, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, Bat Yam and Ashdod being the top choices.
‘Effects of War’
According to a Jerusalem Post report, there was a 42 percent drop in the number of new immigrants arriving in the first eight months of 2024 compared to the same period last year.
The reduction in immigration was highlighted during a discussion earlier this month of the Knesset’s Aliyah, Absorption, and Diaspora Committee, chaired by Knesset member Oded Forer (Israel Beytenu), the report said.
The discussion “revealed that the war in Israel has contributed to a decrease in demand” for immigration interviews.
“Potential immigrants from post-Soviet countries have delayed their plans due to security concerns,” the report said, adding that Forer urged the government to address the situation urgently.
Ongoing Genocide
Flouting a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire, Israel has faced international condemnation amid its continued brutal offensive on Gaza.
Israel is currently on trial before the International Court of Justice for genocide against Palestinians, since it began a devastating war on Gaza on October 7.
According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, 41,615 Palestinians have, to date, been killed, and 96,359 wounded.
Moreover, at least 11,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.
Israel says that 1,200 soldiers and civilians were killed during the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation on October 7. Israeli media published reports suggesting that many Israelis were killed on that day by ‘friendly fire’.
Famine and Displacement
Palestinian and international organizations say that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.
The Israeli war has resulted in an acute famine, mostly in northern Gaza, resulting in the death of many Palestinians, mostly children.
The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
Later in the war, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians began moving from the south to central Gaza in a constant search for safety.
Addressing the Lebanese public, Qassem called on the people to remain resilient, just as they did during the 2006 war, and promised victory over the Israeli enemy.
In his first public appearance following the assassination of Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah last Friday, Naim Qassem, the party’s deputy secretary-general, stated that Hezbollah remains steadfast in its leadership and structure.
He emphasized that the organization has contingency plans in place, with replacements ready for every leader in the event of injury, and that a new secretary-general will be appointed soon.
Qassem dismissed Israeli claims that Nasrallah was meeting with 20 Hezbollah leaders at the time of the Israeli airstrike in the southern suburbs of Beirut, which led to his killing.
“Contrary to what the Israeli enemy claimed, there was no meeting of 20 commanders with His Eminence Sayyed,” Qassem said.
Instead, he clarified that Nasrallah was accompanied by the party’s military commander, Ali Karaki, Abbas Nilforoushan, the deputy commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and his security team.
“Israel is committing massacres across all regions of Lebanon, targeting civilians, including children, women, the elderly, and medical teams,” Qassem said, adding:
“If Israel believes that its international backing and determination for brutality and aggression will achieve its goals, it is delusional.
In his 20-minute address, Qassem reiterated the strength of Hezbollah’s leadership structure, noting the presence of deputies and reserves ready to step in when needed.
“Despite the loss of some leaders and the attacks on civilians, we will not waver from our sincere and honorable positions. The Islamic Resistance will continue to confront the Israeli enemy, in support of Palestine and in defense of Lebanon,” the group’s leader said.
To demonstrate the group’s resilience, he stated that despite Nasrallah’s assassination, Hezbollah’s resistance operations have continued, including strikes on Ma’ale Adumim and Haifa.
Qassem reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the “unity of arenas” policy, vowing that Hezbollah would not deviate from Nasrallah’s positions.
Since September 23, Israel has launched its “most violent and extensive” assault on Lebanon in a year, with the attacks resulting in at least 923 deaths, including women and children, and 2,715 wounded
Addressing the Lebanese public, Qassem called on the people to remain resilient, just as they did during the 2006 war, and promised victory over the Israeli enemy.
“What we are doing is the minimum, and we will continue the battle according to the outlined plans”, he said, adding: “We know that the battle may be prolonged, and our options remain open; we are ready to face any scenario.”
Qassem stated that Hezbollah “will choose a new Secretary-General for the party at the earliest opportunity, according to the party’s established procedures.”
“The loss is great, dear people, but we are doing everything in our power, addressing the assassinations of cadres with replacement cadres,” he also said, adding that “our capabilities are strong and substantial, and the enemy is enraged by its inability to reach them”.
Qassem also thanked “the Lebanese government, political forces, municipalities, and all who stood for the cause of truth.”
“Victory is ours, and we only need some patience. As for our equipment, we have prepared everything we have,” he concluded.
Palestinian journalist Wafa Aludaini was killed, along with her husband and two children, in an Israeli airstrike in Deir Al-Balah, central Gaza early on Monday.
Founder of the October 16th group, Aludaini dedicated her life to mentoring young media professionals in Gaza, emphasizing the importance of truth in reporting.
Aludaini gained prominence for her coverage of the Great March of Return, courageously reporting for several media platforms, including the Palestine Chronicle, where she captured the pain, resistance, and hope of her people.
Through her words and actions, she stood as both a storyteller and a symbol of the Palestinian struggle for freedom.
This is part of an interview we conducted with Aludaini in June 2020.
What is Next for Palestinian Popular Resistance in Gaza? Wafa Aludaini is a witness to many of Gaza’s recent tragedies and also never-ending resistance. She experienced the violent Israeli occupation, the subsequent blockade on the impoverished Strip, and several wars that resulted in the death and wounding of tens of thousands of Palestinians.
But none of Israel’s wars impacted Aludaini’s life as much as the 2014 onslaught which Israel dubbed ‘Operation Protective Edge.’
Of the nearly 18,000 houses destroyed, two homes, one belonging to Wafaa’s family and the other to her in-laws, were also destroyed by Israel’s bombs.
Gaza’s infrastructure, which was already dilapidated as a result of previous wars and a protracted siege, took a massive beating during the 51-day Israeli bombardment.
The most irreplaceable of all of this tragic loss is human life, as 2,251 Palestinians were killed and over 11,000 wounded, many maimed for life.
War and siege, however, only strengthened Wafa’s resolve as she became more involved in covering news from Gaza, hoping to reveal long-hidden truths and defy mainstream media narratives and popular stereotypes.
During the ‘Great March of Return’, a popular movement that began on March 30, 2018, Wafa joined the protesters, reporting on a daily basis on the killing and wounding of unarmed youth who flocked to the fence that separates besieged Gaza from Israel, to demand their freedom and basic human rights.
Enraged by the refugees’ daily chants of ‘End the siege’, ‘Free Palestine’, and their adamant insistence on their ‘Right of Return’ to their original villages in Palestine, which were ethnically cleansed during Israel’s violent birth in 1948, Israeli snipers opened fire. In the first two years of the March, over 300 Palestinians were reportedly killed, and thousands wounded.
Aludaini was there during the entire ordeal, reporting on the dead and the wounded, consoling bereaved families, and also taking part in an historic moment when all of Gaza rose and united behind a single chant of freedom.
“I am a journalist, but I am also a refugee. My parents were expelled from their village in Palestine, which is now in Israel,” she said.
“Being a journalist in Gaza is not easy, because every single day, you are subjected to (the possibility) of being killed, injured, or arrested by the Israeli occupation forces. In fact, many journalists were murdered by Israeli fire this way.”
On why she chose journalism as a career although she studied English literature at a local Gaza University, Aludaini said that the more she understood mainstream media’s reporting on Palestine, the more frustrated she felt by the unfair depiction of Palestine and the Palestinian struggle.
“Journalists who are (advancing) mainstream media (narratives on Palestine) are, in a way, helping the Israeli occupation in killing more innocent people in Palestine, in particular, in the Gaza Strip. (They) are strengthening the people (Israelis) who expelled us in 1948, encouraging them to violate international law,” Aludaini said.
“So I am asking them to come here, to Palestine, to see for themselves, to see the Apartheid wall, to see the checkpoints, to see what is happening in Israeli jails. Only after they see it with their own eyes, can they tell the truth, because journalists should tell the truth and stand for humanity, regardless of religion and regardless of anything else.”
In a similar tone, Aludaini challenged “defenders of the Israeli occupation” to come to Palestine and to “listen to the people who had their children killed; to those who got expelled from their homes. In every home in Palestine, there is a story of misery, but you will never find (these stories) in mainstream media.”
Regarding the Great March of Return, Aludaini said that the March was “a popular protest where the people of Gaza collectively gathered at the separation fence between Gaza and Israel,” to exhibit various forms of resistance that focused mostly on cultural resistance.
Protesters carried out various forms of “traditional activities, like dancing dabka, singing old songs, cooking Palestinian dishes,” Aludaini said, noting that the most touching of these scenes were those of “elderly Palestinians holding the keys of their homes from which they were forcibly expelled in 1948 during the Nakba,” or the Great Catastrophe.
“This kind of popular resistance is not new for Palestinians (as they) have always used all their means to fight for their rights, to fight (against Israeli military) occupation, like the weekly protests (at the Gaza fence), or (the symbolic acts of) stone-throwing. Even when Gazans resort to armed resistance, people never stop displaying popular (forms) of resistance as well.”
Israel assassinated the leader of Hamas in Lebanon and a member of its leadership abroad, Fatah Sharif ‘Abu Al-Amin’ in his home inside the Al-Buss camp in the Tyre area. This marks the first time Israel bombed a Palestinian camp directly since the start of the war.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza, 41,615 Palestinians have been killed, and 96,359 wounded in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza starting on October 7, 2023.

Nasrallah’s body reportedly showed no direct physical injury, raising the likelihood that his death resulted from shock due to the force of the explosion.
The body of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah was recovered on Sunday from the site of an Israeli airstrike in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Reuters news agency reported.

Al-Jazeera, citing a local correspondent, suggested that Nasrallah’s body showed no direct physical injury, raising the likelihood that his death resulted from shock due to the force of the explosion.
Footage from the site of the attack showed significant destruction, including a deep crater at the location of the assassination. The images highlighted the scale of the devastation, with widespread damage in the area.
The Lebanese movement Hezbollah announced on Saturday that Nasrallah had been killed the previous day in an Israeli airstrike.
The strike, carried out on Friday by F-35 fighter jets, targeted a site in Haret Hreik, in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The footage showed the massive crater created by the strike, illustrating the power of the bunker-busting bombs used. Numerous buildings were leveled, and smoke could still be seen rising from parts of the targeted area.
Israeli Army Radio reported that aircraft from Squadron 69 deployed around 85 bunker-busting bombs, each containing one ton of explosives, during the operation to kill Nasrallah.
The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed that intelligence for the airstrike was provided by the Israeli Military Intelligence Division, particularly Unit 8200.
For its part, the New York Times cited Israeli officials who confirmed that Nasrallah’s location had been tracked for months prior to the assassination.

A recent New York Times made many claims about the ‘mass rape’ of Israeli women on October 7.
