Macron also reportedly underscored the importance of preventing an escalation in Lebanon, noting that “Lebanon cannot become a new Gaza.”

French President Emmanuel Macron called on Saturday for a stop to arms deliveries to Israel amidst criticism of its military operations in Gaza, Agence France Press reported.

According to AFP,  Macron emphasized the need to shift focus towards a political resolution during an interview with France Inter, which was recorded earlier this week.

“I think that today, the priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop delivering weapons to fight in Gaza,” he reportedly stated, claiming that “France is not delivering any.”

Israel Vows Major Offensive Against Iran, Faces Stark Warning from Tehran

The United States provides Israel with approximately $3 billion in weapons annually.

In May, the US State Department acknowledged that there wasn’t sufficient evidence to halt arms shipments to Israel, though it noted it was “reasonable to assess” that some Israeli actions may not align with humanitarian law standards.

Similarly, Britain announced in September that it was suspending certain arms exports to Israel, citing concerns that they could contribute to serious violations of international humanitarian law.

Macron expressed ongoing concerns over Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, which is continuing, despite repeated calls for a ceasefire.

“I think we are not being heard,” the French president said, adding, “I think it is a mistake, including for the security of Israel.”

Macron also reportedly underscored the importance of preventing an escalation in Lebanon, noting that “Lebanon cannot become a new Gaza.”

‘Breach of International Law’ – UN Experts Condemn Israel’s Attacks on Lebanon

Ongoing Genocide

Flouting a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire, Israel has faced international condemnation amid its continued brutal offensive on Gaza.

Currently on trial before the International Court of Justice for genocide against Palestinians, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, 41,825 Palestinians have been killed, and 96910 wounded in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza starting on October 7, 2023.

Moreover, at least 11,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

Gaza Residents Face New Evacuation Orders as Israeli Strikes Intensify

Israel says that 1,200 soldiers and civilians were killed during the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation on October 7. Israeli media published reports suggesting that many Israelis were killed on that day by ‘friendly fire’.

Palestinian and international organizations say that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.

The Israeli war has resulted in an acute famine, mostly in northern Gaza, resulting in the death of many Palestinians, mostly children.

The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.

Later in the war, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians began moving from the south to central Gaza in a constant search for safety.

At least seven Palestinians, including children, were killed and several others injured this afternoon as Israeli airstrikes targeted residential areas in both Jabaliya and the Nuseirat refugee camps.

The Israeli military issued new evacuation orders for Gaza residents on Saturday while carrying out attacks that resulted in a high number of casualties, including dead and wounded, in various areas across the Strip.

Al-Jazeera reported that the Israeli army instructed residents of the Bureij and Nuseirat refugee camps in central Gaza to evacuate immediately.

According to Israel’s Channel 12, this unusual evacuation notice is part of a plan to expand the Netzarim corridor in the region.

The channel said that the Israeli army is preparing for the anniversary of the October 7 events and anticipating possible attempts by large numbers of Gazans to storm the corridor or for resistance fighters to launch raids in the area.

The Netzarim crossing, established by the Israeli army after their ground invasion of Gaza a year ago, now separates the northern part of the Gaza Strip from the south.

Since the start of the Israeli military campaign in Gaza, Palestinians have been continuously displaced as the Israeli army orders residents of targeted areas to evacuate ahead of planned bombings, demolitions, and military advances.

New Massacres

At least seven Palestinians, including children, were killed and several others injured this afternoon as Israeli airstrikes targeted residential areas in both Jabaliya and the Nuseirat refugee camps in the Gaza Strip, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

Israeli fighter jets reportedly bombed a home belonging to Nayef Abdullah, a local resident, near the Saad Ibn Abi Waqqas Mosque in northern Jabaliya. The attack killed at least five individuals, including women and children.

In a separate attack, another Israeli airstrike targeted a house belonging to the Ghanim family near the Abu Sarar roundabout in the Nuseirat refugee camp, leading to the murder of two more citizens.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, told Al-Jazeera that hospitals in northern Gaza will cease to function within 24 hours due to the Israeli army’s blockade of diesel and medical supplies.

He added that this would lead to the shutdown of all pediatric departments, including neonatal units, intensive care, and nurseries.

Iran’s Missile Barrage Overpowered Israeli Defense – WSJ Reveals Attack Raises Concerns of Future Strikes

Iran launched hundreds of ballistic missiles towards Israel. (Photo: video grab)

By Palestine Chronicle Staff

Israel’s air defense systems, like the Arrow 2 and 3, were unable to intercept all missiles, highlighting the difficulty of defending against fast, numerous ballistic missiles.

A report published in the Wall Street Journal on Friday confirmed that Iran’s recent barrage of ballistic missiles targeting Israel overwhelmed some of Israel’s air defenses, causing damage.

“The assessment means that any new Iranian strikes against Israel, if launched, could have much more serious consequences if they target civilian infrastructure or heavily populated residential areas,” according to the report.

The paper also stressed that, “unlike April 13, when Iran fired a large number of slower cruise missiles and drones, Tuesday’s barrage was made up exclusively of some 180 much faster ballistic missiles, one of the largest such strikes in the history of warfare.”

Independent researchers, analyzing satellite imagery, noted that about 32 missiles hit the Nevatim military air base.

‘Crushing Response’ – Iran Strikes Dozens of Targets throughout Israel with Hundreds of Ballistic Missiles

“Satellite images of a target on Tuesday—the Nevatim air base in southern Israel, home to its F-35 jet fighters—show that as many as 32 Iranian missiles managed to land within the base’s perimeter, according to analysis by professor Jeffrey Lewis, at the Middlebury Institute for International Studies in Monterey, Calif,” the report said.

Lewis highlighted that “Thirty-two missiles is a lot of missiles” and that “we have exaggerated ideas about the effectiveness of air defenses. We have this pop-culture idea that missile defenses are much more effective or available than they actually are.”

Indeed, according to the report, Israel’s air defense systems, like the Arrow 2 and 3, were unable to intercept all missiles, highlighting the difficulty of defending against fast, numerous ballistic missiles.

“The faster the missile, the harder it is to intercept it, that’s simple physics,” Ulrich Kühn, head of research for arms control at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy in Hamburg, Germany, was quoted as as saying.

Empty Promises – Iranian President Criticizes Western Powers during Meeting with Hamas

The report suggests that future Iranian strikes could have more devastating consequences if they target civilian infrastructure or populated areas.

“That is an important consideration as Israel contemplates its military response. Tehran has threatened strikes on Israeli power plants and oil refineries if Israel hits Iranian territory in a counterattack expected in the coming days,” the WSJ reported.

While Israel is expected to retaliate, Iran’s missile production capabilities are likely to be targeted, as they remain a critical vulnerability.

Iran possesses a large arsenal of over 3,000 ballistic missiles, many stored in underground facilities, while its production plants are less protected and could be targeted in future Israeli strikes.

‘End This Madness Now!’ – US Doctors Urge Biden, Harris to Stop Military, Economic Support of Israel

Israel continues to carry out massacres against Palestinian civilians in Gaza.(Photo: via QNN)

By Palestine Chronicle Staff

“I’ve never seen such horrific injuries, on such a massive scale, with so few resources. Our bombs are cutting down women and children by the thousands”. – Dr. Feroze Sidhwa

Nearly 100 American physicians and medical professionals who volunteered in the Gaza Strip have called on US President Joe Biden to immediately withhold military, economic, and diplomatic support for Israel to prevent “an even worse catastrophe” in the enclave.

“Every day that we continue supplying weapons and munitions to Israel is another day that women are shredded by our bombs and children are murdered with our bullets,” the health workers said in a letter addressed to Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris dated October 2, 2024.

The multi-faith and multi-ethnic group which spent 254 weeks collectively volunteering in Gaza’s hospitals and clinics said the letter “summarizes our own experiences and direct observations in Gaza.”

Available on www.gazahealthcareletters.org, the letter was accompanied by a detailed appendix summarizing the publicly available information from media, humanitarian, and academic sources on key aspects of Israel’s invasion of Gaza.

Death Toll Over 118,908

“It is likely that the death toll from this conflict is already greater than 118,908, an astonishing 5.4% of Gaza’s population,” the health workers stated, adding that they believed the US government was obligated, under both American law and International Humanitarian Law to withhold military support for Israel.

“I’ve never seen such horrific injuries, on such a massive scale, with so few resources. Our bombs are cutting down women and children by the thousands,” Dr. Feroze Sidhwa, trauma and critical care surgeon, Veterans Affairs general surgeon said. “Their mutilated bodies are a monument to cruelty.”

‘Not Implausible’ – The Lancet Estimates Gaza Death Toll Could Be 186,000 or More

The healthcare workers pointed out widespread malnutrition in the enclave, saying  “With only marginal exceptions, everyone in Gaza is sick, injured, or both. This includes every national aid worker, every international volunteer, and probably every Israeli hostage: every man, woman, and child.”

“In Gaza we watched malnourished mothers feed their underweight newborns infant formula made with poisonous water. We can never forget that the world abandoned these innocent women and babies,” they said.

‘Every Day I Saw Babies Die’

Asma Taha, a pediatric nurse practitioner, shared “Every day I saw babies die. They had been born healthy. Their mothers were so malnourished that they could not breastfeed, and we lacked formula or clean water to feed them, so they starved.”

“We urge you to realize that epidemics are raging in Gaza,” they stated, adding that Israel’s “continued, repeated displacement of the malnourished and sick population of Gaza, half of whom are children, to areas without running water or even toilets available is absolutely shocking.”

Israel Kills More Women and Children in Gaza than in Any Recent Conflict – Oxfam

They raised concern that unknown thousands have already died from the lethal combination of malnutrition and disease, and that tens of thousands more will die in the coming months, especially with the onset of the winter rains in Gaza, adding “Most of them will be young children.”

Children Deliberately Targeted

The letter pointed out that children are “universally considered innocents in armed conflict.”

“However, every single signatory to this letter saw children in Gaza who suffered violence that must have been deliberately directed at them,” the doctor said.

“Specifically, every one of us who worked in an emergency, intensive care, or surgical setting treated pre-teen children who were shot in the head or chest on a regular or even a daily basis.

“It is impossible that such widespread shooting of young children throughout Gaza, sustained over the course of an entire year is accidental or unknown to the highest Israeli civilian and military authorities.”

The letter continued: “President Biden and Vice President Harris, we wish you could see the nightmares that plague so many of us since we have returned: dreams of children maimed and mutilated by our weapons, and their inconsolable mothers begging us to save them.

“We wish you could hear the cries and screams our consciences will not let us forget. We cannot fathom why you continue arming the country that is deliberately killing these children en masse.”

Healthcare Destroyed

They also pointed out that Israel has destroyed more than half of Gaza’s healthcare resources and has killed nearly one thousand Palestinian healthcare workers, “more than one out of every 20 healthcare workers in Gaza.”

At the same time, healthcare needs have increased massively “from the lethal combination of military violence, malnutrition, disease, and displacement.”

The doctors said that their observations and the publicly available material detailed in the appendix “lead us to believe that the death toll from this conflict is many times higher than what is reported by the Gaza Ministry of Health.”

“We also believe this is probative evidence of widespread violations of American laws governing the use of American weapons abroad, and of International Humanitarian Law. We cannot forget scenes of unbearable cruelty directed at women and children that our government is a direct participant in.”

The medical professionals also stated that “Israel has systematically and deliberately devastated Gaza’s entire healthcare system, and that Israel has targeted our colleagues in Gaza for torture, disappearance, and murder.”

Duty-Bound to Uphold Laws

They urged Biden and Harris “to immediately withhold military, economic, and diplomatic support from the State of Israel and to participate in an international arms embargo of Israel and all Palestinian armed groups until a permanent ceasefire is established in Gaza.”

“Vice President Harris, as the likely next president of the United States, we urge you to publicly announce your support for such a policy, and to state publicly that you are duty-bound to uphold the laws of the United States even when doing so is politically inconvenient.”

The letter concluded: “Every day that we continue supplying weapons and munitions to Israel is another day that women are shredded by our bombs and children are murdered with our bullets.

“President Biden and Vice President Harris, we urge you: end this madness now!”

‘Breach of International Law’ – UN Experts Condemn Israel’s Attacks on Lebanon

By Palestine Chronicle Staff

“Israel’s latest breach of international law will only add to this mounting toll of death and displacement.”

UN experts have sharply condemned Israel’s escalated military campaign in Lebanon for violations of international law as the country witnesses unprecedented displacement and suffering.

“The number of internally displaced persons in Lebanon has more than tripled in less than a month due to Israel’s relentless attacks on populated areas coupled with belated or ineffective evacuation orders, in violation of the principles of distinction and proportionality,” the experts said in a statement on Friday.

More than 1,600 people have been killed in Israeli strikes on Lebanon since October last year, the statement noted, adding that at least 346,000 have been internally displaced and plans are underway to shelter up to one million IDPs.

In addition, hundreds of thousands have crossed into Syria with many of those displaced already refugees.

“Israel’s latest breach of international law – a ground invasion in violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and Security Council resolution 1701 – will only add to this mounting toll of death and displacement,” the experts said.

Israel Impeding Relief Efforts

Highlighting that Lebanon was grappling with social and economic instability and the hosting of millions of refugees even before the current conflict, the experts said that further damage to Lebanon’s institutions could overwhelm the country’s ability to respond to this crisis.

Israeli Airstrikes on Lebanon Escalate – At Least Four Paramedics Killed, Scores Injured

“While the humanitarian response has been commendable, Israel has impeded relief efforts through attacking vital civilian infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and water and health facilities, as well as health and humanitarian workers themselves,” they stressed.

“These are clear violations of the international obligation to respect and protect relief personnel that risk collapsing the system to protect and assist displaced persons.”

At least four paramedics were killed on Friday after they were targeted in an Israeli drone strike.

Immediate Ceasefire

The experts pointed out that maintaining international peace and security “requires the international community and Israel’s allies in particular to act now to halt further military incursions, ensure the unconditional protection of all civilians, accountability for violations of international law, and an immediate and unconditional ceasefire as the only path forward for Lebanon and the region.”

Lebanon’s caretaker Minister of Health, Firass Abiad, announced on Thursday that the death toll of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon since October 8 has risen to 1,974, including 127 children and 261 women, according to Al-Mayadeen. In addition, a total of 9,384 people have been injured.

It Must End Now – US Congresswoman Calls for an End to ‘Cycle of Violence’

By Palestine Chronicle Staff

Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal says the US has a unique role to play to secure a ceasefire and swap deal.

Washington Representative in Congress Pramila Jayapal voiced deep concern on Friday over the escalation of tension in the Middle East.

“I am extremely concerned about escalating violence in the Middle East,” she wrote on X.

“This cycle of violence will not make anyone more secure and will certainly only lead to further losses of civilian life in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Iran and throughout the region,” she added.

The Congresswoman emphasized that today is the time to de-escalate to avoid further violence, which can only happen through ceasefire negotiations and a swap deal to end the war on the Gaza Strip and secure the return of captives.

Jayapal accentuated the pivotal role of the United States in reaching such a deal.

“The United States has a unique role to play here. We can and must use all the tools in our toolbox to help push for an end to this violence,” she wrote.

“We must use all of our leverage to work toward safety and security in the region to protect innocent civilian lives,” the Congresswoman concluded.

US Ironclad Support of Israel

Jayapal’s statement comes as various officials in the US administration reiterate non-stop the right of Israel to defend itself against what they say “the proxies of Iran” in the region, in addition to securing Tel Aviv, with massive amounts of weapons to carry on the job.

Israel announced on September 26 that it is ready to collect $8.7 billion in military aid from the United States.

The US military aid package to Israel comes amidst a genocide in Gaza and the fifth day of an Israeli unprecedented escalation on Lebanon.

No Diplomatic Leadership – Biden’s Israel Policy Has Led Us to the Brink of War on Iran

According to a statement by Israel’s defense ministry quoted by the Israeli newspaper The Times of Israel, Tel Aviv has secured the package “to support its ongoing military efforts and to maintain a qualitative military edge in the region.”

“The package comprises $3.5 billion for essential wartime procurement, which has already been transferred to the IMoD (Israeli Ministry of Defense), and $5.2 billion designated for air defense systems, including the Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and an advanced laser system,” Anadolu news agency reported quoting the statement.

Gaza Genocide Continues

Flouting a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire, Israel has faced international condemnation amid its continued brutal offensive on Gaza.

Israel Commits 185 Violations against Palestinian Journalists in One Month – PJS Says

The syndicate revealed in a statement that in September alone, the Israeli occupation army killed two journalists in Gaza, and injured nine others by live bullets in the West Bank.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) said on Friday that the Israeli occupation army committed in September 185 violations against Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, Anadolu news agency reported.

The syndicate revealed in a statement that in September alone, the Israeli occupation army killed two journalists in Gaza, and injured nine others by live bullets in the West Bank.

The media group reported that five journalists were detained in the occupied West Bank while 10 cases of forced entry were registered into various media bureaus and homes of journalists.

The statement indicated that 23 journalists suffered suffocation from tear gas while on the job covering the Israeli war.

Moreover, the Israeli occupation authorities prevented 67 journalists from conducting media coverage across the occupation West Bank, Anadolu said.

The syndicate indicated that most recently the Israeli occupation authorities have shut down the Al-Jazeera bureau in Ramallah in the West Bank confiscating their equipment and banning its journalists from performing their job, in addition to destroying the equipment of Nas Radio in Jenin along with eleven other media outlets.

Systematic Israeli Violations

Israel has targeted media outlets since the start of its genocide on Gaza on October 8, the ban of Al-Jazeera in Israel in May followed by the closure of its Ramallah bureau in the occupied West Bank in September is yet another example.

Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip have been systematically targeted by the Israeli occupation army during the raging war.

Since the start of Israel’s genocidal war against the Gaza Strip, a total of 173 Palestinian journalists have been killed, and more than 190 others have been injured, while 87 media institutions have been destroyed, according to the Health Ministry in the Strip.

This has been met with wide condemnation from various international organizations requesting protection for Palestinian journalists.

In August, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, the Al-Dameer Association for Human Rights, and the Independent Commission for Human Rights condemned in a joint statement the Israeli occupation authorities’ crimes against Palestinian journalists.

Deputy Chairman of the Journalists Syndicate in Gaza, Tahseen Al-Astal, said that these crimes directly touched 160 journalists and media workers since the start of the genocide on Gaza on October 7 of last year while adding that the occupation has destroyed over 88 media institutions and turned 94 others unfunctional due to systematic bombardment.

Al-Astal accused Israel of not only targeting Palestinian journalists but also their families labeling these crimes as “racist and fascist” while indicating that 94 journalists have been arrested since October 7, and “53 of them remain in detention, including 19 journalists from the Gaza Strip.”

Dying for a Photo – Resistance Roundup – Day 364

Hezbollah fighters at the Lebanese-Israeli border. (Photo: Hezollah military media)

By Palestine Chronicle Staff

The story goes something like this. After repeatedly failing to penetrate the Lebanese border, due to stiff resistance, the Israeli army chose a different route.

Soldiers simply rushed into Lebanon, stopped only meters away from the border, took a photo at a border village and rushed back.

The price for this risky move, per a statement issued by a field officer in Hezbollah’s Operations Room, was the killing and wounding of at least 20 Israeli soldiers.

“To obtain these photos, which (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu desperately needed due to his political crisis, the price was more than 20 dead and wounded among the elite soldiers, something the Israeli military censor was forced to hide and cover up”.

Hezbollah also said that it had prevented advancements by Israeli troops from two different directions, towards the towns of Maroun Al-Ras and Yaroun.

“Upon reaching the pre-prepared ambush points, (..) the Islamic Resistance fighters detonated several explosive devices (..) and engaged in clashes with the elite officers and soldiers using light and medium weapons and rocket shells,” the officer said.

“The close-range clashes became point-blank range, resulting in several killed and wounded among the infiltrating force. Those not hit carried the dead or wounded and withdrew under artillery cover from positions inside the occupied lands,” the statement added.

Below are the latest statements by the Lebanese Resistance Movement Hezbollah.

The statements were communicated via its Telegram channels and are published here in their original form.

The Israeli army has released the names and photos of the two soldiers who were killed, both members of the 13th Battalion of the Golani Brigade.

The Israeli army announced the death of two soldiers and injuries to more than 20 others following a drone attack launched from Iraq last Wednesday. The incident took place at a military base north of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

This is the first time the Israeli army acknowledges that operations by Iraqi resistance groups have resulted in both casualties and injuries among Israeli forces.

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed that two soldiers were killed and 24 were injured in the attack, with two in critical condition.

The Israeli army has released the names and photos of the two soldiers who were killed, both members of the 13th Battalion of the Golani Brigade.

The Israeli Army Radio further reported that an initial investigation revealed two explosive drones had been launched from Iraq early Thursday morning.

One of the drones was intercepted, but the other managed to evade air defense systems and detonated at the military base north of the Golan Heights.

This admission from Israel follows a statement from the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, which claimed responsibility for attacking three separate targets in northern Israel at dawn on Wednesday.

The group declared the strikes were part of their ongoing resistance against the occupation and in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese people, in response to the massacres committed by Israel against civilians, including women, children, and the elderly.

For several months, Iraqi factions have been launching missile and drone attacks on Israel in solidarity with the Palestinian resistance in Gaza.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, which includes movements such as the Hezbollah Brigades, Al-Nujaba Brigades, and Sayyid al-Shuhada Brigades, stated that they had successfully struck multiple significant Israeli targets, ranging from the Golan Heights and Haifa in the north to Eilat in the south.

Abu Obeida, the military spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, praised the operation in a statement on Friday.

“We salute our brothers in the Iraqi Islamic Resistance for supporting our Palestinian people in the face of the Zionist aggression,” Abu Obeida said.

“We bless their qualitative operation that targeted with drones the occupation forces in the Golan, leaving dead and wounded,” he added.

According to Abu Obeida, the operation “carries a message to the occupation that your persistence in your aggression will bring you more losses and setbacks until your retreat from our land, God willing.”
