‘There They are, It’s Done’ –19-Year-Old Palestinian Journalist Killed by Israel following Threats

By Palestine Chronicle Staff

According to Palestinian journalist Maha Hussaini, Hamad had received threats in the days that led to his death.

The Israeli occupation army killed 19-year-old journalist Hassan Hamad in a targeted drone strike at his home in Jabalya refugee camp on Sunday morning.

The young journalist was threatened repeatedly by Israel, which asked him to stop his coverage of the Israeli occupation crimes, especially following the latest incursion into Jabalya.

According to Palestinian journalist Maha Hussaini, Hamad had received threats in the days that led to his death.

“Listen, Ii you continue spreading lies about Israel, we’ll come for you next and turn your family into (…) This is your last warning”, was the message Hamad received via WhatsApp, as conveyed by Hussaini on X.

Hussaini confirmed that the young journalist also received “several calls from an Israeli officer ordering him to stop filming in Gaza.”

“He didn’t comply. He was killed today,” Hussaini wrote on X.

A colleague confirmed the assassination on Hamad’s X account.

“With deep sorrow and pain, I mourn the journalist Hassan Hamad. I testify before God that you fulfilled your duty,” Hamad’s colleague wrote.

Hamad’s Journey

The post went on to highlight the journey of the young journalist and the challenges he had to go through to keep bringing the truth to the world.

“Hassan Hamad, the journalist who did not live past the age of 20, resisted for a full year in his own way,” the post read.

“He resisted by staying away from his family so they wouldn’t be targeted. He resisted when he struggled to find an internet signal, sitting for an hour or two on the rooftop just to send the videos that reach you in seconds,” it added.

“Yesterday, from 10 PM, he moved between the bombed locations and then returned to search for an internet signal, only to go back and cover the scenes of the scattered remains. He endured the pain of an injury to his leg, yet continued filming.”

Hamad’s colleague concluded by depicting the last moments of the slain journalist.

“At 6 AM, he called me to send his last video. After a call that didn’t last more than a few seconds, he said, “There they are, there they are, it’s done,” and hung up. It’s a feeling no human can bear,” the statement said.

“Hassan also resisted the occupation, leaving behind a mark and a message that we will carry on after him. We belong to God, and to Him we shall return,” Hamad’s colleague ended by saying.

Graphic footage on social media of Hamad’s remains in a shoebox has sparked wide indignation and anger amongst activists in the virtual world who denounced the targeted assassination of the young journalist.

Systematic Killing of Journalists

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) said last week that the Israeli occupation army committed in September 185 violations against Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, Anadolu news agency reported.

The syndicate revealed in a statement that in September alone, the Israeli occupation army killed two journalists in Gaza, and injured nine others by live bullets in the West Bank.

The media group reported that five journalists were detained in the occupied West Bank while 10 cases of forced entry were registered into various media bureaus and homes of journalists.

Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip have been systematically targeted by the Israeli occupation army during the raging war.

Since the start of Israel’s genocidal war against the Gaza Strip, a total of 175 Palestinian journalists have been killed, and more than 190 others have been injured, while 87 media institutions have been destroyed, according to the Health Ministry in the Strip.

Gaza Genocide Continues

Flouting a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire, Israel has faced international condemnation amid its continued brutal offensive on Gaza.

Currently on trial before the International Court of Justice for genocide against Palestinians, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health,  41,870 Palestinians have been killed, and 97,166 wounded in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza starting on October 7, 2023.

Moreover, at least 11,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

Israel says that 1,200 soldiers and civilians were killed during the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation on October 7. Israeli media published reports suggesting that many Israelis were killed on that day by ‘friendly fire’.

Palestinian and international organizations say that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.

The Israeli war has resulted in an acute famine, mostly in northern Gaza, resulting in the death of many Palestinians, mostly children.

The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.

Later in the war, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians began moving from the south to central Gaza in a constant search for safety.

Sniped in Jabaliya – Resistance Roundup – Day 366

An Israeli soldier was sniped in a joint operation in Jabaliya. (Photo: video grab)

By Palestine Chronicle Staff

The moment an Israeli soldier raised his head from beneath the wreckage and the mass destruction created by the Israeli army in the Jabaliya refugee camp, in northern Gaza, the moment a sniper bullet was fired.

What followed was a scene of smoke, followed by the shouts of ‘God is great’.

This was the latest video shared by the Al-Quds Brigades in a sniping operation that was carried out jointly with the AL-Qassam Brigades.

The Israeli army is renewing its attacks on northern Gaza, this time with the massive push of expelling the remaining Palestinian population in the northern Strip to the south.

Thousands of flyers were thrown all over the northern region by Israeli military planes, calling on the people to leave, and warning them of dire consequences.

Those dire consequences have already begun, with hundreds killed and wounded in new massacres targeting schools and other displacement centers in the area.

But per the latest statements from the Resistance, it seems that the efforts to push back the Israeli invasion remain as strong as determined as before.

Below are the latest statements by the two main Resistance forces in Gaza, and the Lebanese Resistance Movement Hezbollah.

The Rear Admiral reportedly condemned Netanyahu’s regime for escalating tensions in the region through acts of aggression and terrorism in Gaza and Lebanon.

The commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, reaffirmed the readiness of Iran’s armed forces to confront any potential threats, including those from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to Al-Mayadeen, Tangsiri emphasized that Iran has comprehensive plans to deal with all possible scenarios during an interview with Iran’s Al-Alam network.

The Rear Admiral reportedly condemned Netanyahu’s regime for escalating tensions in the region through acts of aggression and terrorism in Gaza and Lebanon, underscoring Iran’s strategic readiness to respond to any threats.

“We are prepared for any situation,” Tangsiri reportedly stated.

Iran’s Missile Barrage Overpowered Israeli Defense – WSJ Reveals Attack Raises Concerns of Future Strikes

The Iranian military official stressed that “Islam forbids us from attacking another country unless they invade us,” but he noted that certain adversaries seek to sell weapons and maintain an illegal presence in the region by falsely portraying Iran as a threat.

“As long as our national and Islamic interests are not threatened, we will not respond, but we are committed to defending the oppressed wherever necessary,” Tangsiri reportedly said.

On Saturday, the deputy chief of the IRGC, Brigadier General Ali Fadavi, issued a direct warning to Israel, saying any misstep by the Israeli entity would jeopardize its very existence.

“If the occupying entity makes an error, we will target all of its energy sources, including power stations, refineries, and gas fields,” Fadavi stated in an interview with Al-Mayadeen.

Fadavi also contrasted Iran’s expansive economy with Israel’s, noting that while Iran is a large country with multiple economic centers, Israel relies on just three power stations and a handful of refineries.

Operation True Promise 2

On Tuesday, as part of Iran’s Operation True Promise 2, dozens of missiles reportedly hit their intended targets, with reports claiming that over 400 missiles and projectiles were launched from Iran toward Israel.

Sirens blared across occupied Palestine as Iranian media declared that Iran’s response to Israeli aggression had begun.

In a statement following the missile launches, the IRGC stated, “We have targeted the heart of the occupied territories in retaliation for the assassination of martyrs Haniyeh, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and Nilforooshan.”

The IRGC warned Israel, saying that “if the Zionist regime retaliates against the Iranian operation, it will face severe consequences.”

Israeli Soldier Killed, Dozens Injured in Beersheba Operation – Criticism Mounts against Ben-Gvir

An Israeli soldier was killed and others injured in an operation in Beersheba. (Photo: video grab)

By Palestine Chronicle Staff

The executor of the operation was identified as 29-year-old Ahmed Saeed Al-Aqabi, from the town of Al-Qurain, in the occupied Naqab.

An Israeli soldier was killed and at least 24 others were injured, some critically, in a stabbing and shooting operation near the central bus station in Beersheba (Bir Al-Saba) in southern Israel.

According to Israeli police, the attacker was killed, and officers are searching the city for any potential accomplices.

The executor was identified as 29-year-old Ahmed Saeed Al-Aqabi, from the town of Al-Qurain, in the occupied Naqab.

The Israeli Army Radio reported that Al-Aqabi stabbed the soldier, seized her weapon, and then opened fire on others.

The Israeli Ambulance Authority confirmed that the attack took place at two separate locations.

For its part, the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted the mother of one of the soldiers involved, who said her daughter, along with other soldiers, had hidden in a bathroom during the attack and was unable to make contact during the incident.

Al-Aqabi was reportedly a relative of Muhannad Al-Aqabi, who conducted a similar shooting attack in Beersheba in 2015, killing an Israeli soldier and injuring several others.

Ben-Gvir Faces Backlash

Meanwhile, Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir faced criticism during a visit to the site of the operation.

Jewish settlers reportedly called for his resignation and accused him of failure to prevent the attack.

In response, Ben-Gvir advocated for harsher measures, calling for the demolition of homes belonging to those he labeled as “disloyal” to Israel and urging the passing of legislation to deport the families of Palestinian citizens accused of terrorism.

‘Response to Ongoing Massacres’

The Popular Resistance Committees blessed in a statement the “heroic operation”, which “comes in response to the ongoing massacres and genocidal war in Palestine and Lebanon.”

The Committees also mourned the executor, “who insisted on joining the ranks of honor, dignity, and martyrdom.”

According to the statement, the operation was “a message of fire and gunpowder to the Zionist enemy entity and its criminal leaders, affirming that the revolutionaries of our people and our resistance fighters in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, and Iran do not abandon their sacred and obligatory vengeance for their martyrs and leaders”.

The Committees also called “on all free resistance fighters in all the arenas and fronts of confrontation with the zionist enemy to escalate the resistance”.

Netanyahu Blasts Macron’s Stance on Arms Embargo: ‘Shame on Them’

By Palestine Chronicle Staff

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed French President Emmanuel Macron over his call to impose an arms embargo on Israel.

Netanyahu responded by saying “Shame on them” in reference to Macron and other Western leaders calling for an arms embargo on Israel.

“Israel will win with or without their support,” Netanyahu said in a video released by his office.

He also criticized Macron’s call labeling it as “a disgrace.”

Earlier on Saturday, French President Emmanuel Macron called for a stop to arms deliveries to Israel amidst criticism of its military operations in Gaza, Agence France Press reported.

According to AFP, Macron emphasized the need to shift focus towards a political resolution during an interview with France Inter, recorded earlier this week.

“I think that today, the priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop delivering weapons to fight in Gaza,” he reportedly stated, claiming that “France is not delivering any.”

Macron expressed ongoing concerns over Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, which is continuing, despite repeated calls for a ceasefire.

“I think we are not being heard,” the French president said, adding, “I think it is a mistake, including for the security of Israel.”

Macron also reportedly underscored the importance of preventing an escalation in Lebanon, noting that “Lebanon cannot become a new Gaza.”

‘Indescribable Destruction and Suffering’ – Spanish King Calls for Ceasefire in Gaza

“We want to see an end to the humanitarian drama and the silence of weapons, to return to the path of politics and diplomacy”.

The Spanish Felipe VI called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing that the war has brought “indescribable destruction and suffering,” the Anadolu news agency reported.

“The conflict must end as soon as possible,” the agency quoted the monarch as saying.

During an address at the Spanish ambassador’s residence in Amman, on the first day of his visit to Jordan, the king reportedly accentuated the devastating humanitarian crisis in the enclave, which resulted from the one-year-old genocide, stressing that it brought much suffering and destruction.

Additionally, in a meeting with the Spanish community in Jordan, Felipe VI reiterated his desire for peace amidst a raging war in the Middle East.

“In these moments, we are also united by a deep desire for peace and dialogue,” the king was quoted by Arab News as saying.

He urged to return to diplomatic negotiations to end the war in Gaza and achieve a lasting peace based on the two-state solution.

“We want to see an end to the humanitarian drama and the silence of weapons, to return to the path of politics and diplomacy,” he stressed.

Spain Stands against Genocide

Spain has been one of the few European countries to take a strong stand against Israel’s genocide on the Gaza Strip since the start of the war.

On May 28, Spain became the 140th country to recognize the State of Palestine. Norway and Ireland followed, as well as Slovenia.

In June, Spain also announced it would join South Africa’s case before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) accusing Israel of genocide in its war on Gaza.

Irene Montero, a Spanish Member of the EU Parliament, accused in September the Commission of supporting genocide in Gaza, saying it “is only possible due to the necessary complicity of the United States and Europe.”

‘Stop Being Complicit’ – Spanish Politician Urges Suspension of Ties with Israel

“When a criminal state murders more than 41,000 people, half of them children; when it destroys 60% of homes, 85% of schools, 65% of roads; when it forcibly displaces over 80% of the population; and when it blocks the entry of water, energy, medicine, and humanitarian aid. It is not a war; it’s genocide,” Montero told the EU parliament this week.

“A genocide that is only possible due to the necessary complicity of the United States and Europe, which provide economic, military, and political support to the perpetrators of the genocide,” she added.

Montero, a representative of the Spanish left-wing Unidas Podemos party, went on to question why an arms embargo has not been enforced against Israel.

In July, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez urged the West to reject “double standards” regarding the war on Gaza.

“If we are telling our people that we are supporting Ukraine because we are defending international law, this is the same as what we have to do towards Gaza,” he said at NATO’s 75th-anniversary summit in Washington.

By Palestine Chronicle Staff

The leftist leader asked students to defy the government by parading the Palestinian flags “wherever possible” to show their solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

The leader of La France Insoumise left party, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, voiced on Saturday his support of the Lebanese resistance and urged French students to continue to show solidarity with Palestine and Lebanon, the Lebanese news network Al-Mayadeen reported.

Mélenchon made the comments at a rally in Paris in support of Palestine and Lebanon. He responded to earlier remarks by French Minister of Higher Education Patrick Hetzel, who denounced pro-Palestinian demonstrations at institutions like Sciences Po Paris, saying that they stand against France’s principles of “neutrality and secularism”.

The leftist leader denounced the minister’s remarks while affirming that discussing “geopolitics, including the situation in Gaza, was not an affront to secularism.”

“Talking about geopolitics is not an attack on secularism,” Melenchon stressed.

“I call on students to defy this prohibition and speak freely, because we live in a free country,” he added.

Mélenchon was adamant as well in voicing his support of the Lebanese resistance in Lebanon.

He told the crowd that “Hezbollah is a component of the Lebanese people, and it is not up to us to decide who is a good or bad component,” according to Al-Mayadeen.

The leftist leader asked students to defy the government by parading the Palestinian flags “wherever possible” to show their solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

He urged students as well to include the Lebanese flags as a sign of solidarity with the Lebanese people against Israel’s war on the country.

“Let the Lebanese know that we have not forgotten them or left them to the violence and murder of their terrifying neighbor,” in a reference to “Israel”, Al-Mayadeen quoted him as saying.
