The Palestinian Ministry of Interior in Gaza announced today that the Egyptian authorities have informed the Ministry of its decision to open the Rafah Crossing for four days starting from tomorrow.
The crossing will open on Wednesday and Thursday and shut down on Friday, and re-open again Saturday and Sunday.
Some 30,000 Palestinians are registered to travel via the Rafah border and opening it will help alleviate the suffering of many, and make their travel possible. Thousands require medical care and the opening of the border would allow this.
Egypt had opened the crossing for two days within in May as well, when hundreds of Palestinians managed to travel, however, thousands were unable to travel as the border was closed before the prescribed time.
Today’s decision comes a few days before the start of Ramadan.
