Undercover Israeli forces deliberately killed a 15-year-old Palestinian boy after he saw them sneaking into the Jenin refugee camp during a military incursion on September 19, a human rights group said.

In a report issued on Wednesday by Defense for Children Palestine (DCIP), the Palestinian sector of Geneva-based Defense for Children International (DCI), Rafat Omar Ahmad Khamayseh left his grandfather’s house in the northern West Bank’s Jenin refugee camp on Tuesday, September 19, when he then “saw Israeli Special Forces exiting three Palestinian licensed cars and surround the home of the father of a Palestinian man wanted for arrest.”

The report stated that “Rafat fled, yelling, ‘Special Forces! Special Forces!’ One Israeli soldier chased Rafat and shot him in the abdomen from a distance of 10 meters”.

The Israeli occupation forces then shot at the boy again, as a Palestinian man came to his aid and “threw himself on top of Rafat and rolled him toward his house, less than five meters away. The man and his family sheltered Rafat for about an hour and a half as the Israeli military prevented ambulances from accessing Jenin refugee camp.”

The boy was reported to have been “struck with one bullet that entered his abdomen and exited from the upper right side of his chest … He bled extensively from his mouth and nose while waiting for an ambulance.” The DCIP stated that “Rafat died before an ambulance transferred him to Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin.”

The human rights group acknowledged the killing of Palestinian minors as a common practice by Occupation forces, stating in its report that “Investigations and evidence collected by DCIP regularly suggest that Israeli forces use lethal force against Palestinian children in circumstances that may amount to extrajudicial or willful killings”.

UN Urges Israel to Ensure Palestinians’ Right to Education

The Palestinian Ministry of Education condemned the army vandalism of the school property, considering it a blatant violation of human rights and the right of children to a safe and secure education.

The ministry said that this incident shows the difficult conditions experienced by students and teachers in occupied Jerusalem and its suburbs as a result of the war waged by the occupation forces against educational institutions.

The Islamic Jihad movement in Palestine said on Tuesday that the Palestinian Authority security forces are threatening and arresting its members in the occupied West Bank city of Al-Khalil (Hebron), Quds Press has reported.

“The PA is carrying out a continuous political crime and offering free service to the Israeli occupation despite its ongoing violations against the Palestinians and aggression at Al-Aqsa Mosque,” the Islamic Jihad said in a statement.

The movement pointed out that security agents from the PA intelligence services ambushed Tamer Islimiyeh, a former prisoner, and held him at gunpoint.

“This is a direct threat which is opposed by all our norms,” the PIJ said, adding that “this was an assassination attempt.”

Islimiyeh told Quds Press that he was asked to turn himself into the intelligence services. However, he refused and pledged instead to take them to court.

Israeli occupation forces killed six young Palestinian men and wounded many others in less than 24 hours, in the occupied West Bank and in the besieged Gaza Strip.

A young Palestinian man was killed on Wednesday morning in the Aqabat Jabr camp in the occupied West Bank city of Jericho, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement.

Dhargham Mohammad Yahya Al-Akhras, 19, was shot and killed during an Israeli military raid into the refugee camp. The Ministry said in its statement that he succumbed to the critical wounds he sustained after being shot in the head by Israeli forces.

Earlier on Wednesday, another young Palestinian man succumbed to the wounds he sustained during the invasion of the Jenin refugee camp on Tuesday night.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that the victim has been identified as Yasser Atta Musa, 29, from the village of Marka, south of Jenin.

On Tuesday evening, three Palestinians were killed and over 30 others were injured following an Israeli military attack on the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank.

The bloody attack on Jenin began when a large number of Israeli occupation forces surrounded a house while firing rockets toward it.

As the house was set ablaze, fierce clashes ensued throughout the camp, as fighters from all Resistance groups tried to ease the siege imposed on Palestinian families entrapped in the targeted neighborhood.

In a major escalation, the Israeli military attacked the northern West Bank refugee camp of Jenin, while Israeli snipers opened fire at Palestinian protesters in Gaza. This is the latest.

Three Palestinians were killed and over 30 others were injured following an Israeli military attack on the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank on Tuesday evening.

Some of those injured are reportedly in critical condition.

Meanwhile, a fourth Palestinian was killed by Israeli forces near the separation fence in the Gaza Strip.

Deadly Raid on Jenin

The bloody attack on Jenin began when a large number of Israeli occupation forces surrounded a house while firing rockets toward it.

As the house was set ablaze, fierce clashes ensued throughout the camp, as fighters from all Resistance groups tried to ease the siege imposed on Palestinian families entrapped in the targeted neighborhood.

The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth described the storming of Jenin as a “large-scale Israeli army raid”.

An Israeli military aircraft circled over Jenin and the electricity was shut down throughout the camp.

Palestinian eyewitnesses said that an unmanned Israeli drone blew up towards a specific target in the camp. It remains unclear what target Israel was trying to eliminate.

Local Palestinian sources said that the Resistance fighters had discovered the special Israeli force as it tried to infiltrate the camp, immediately engaging with it, compelling Israel to send reinforcements.

Aljazeera Net, citing Palestinian sources, said that the targeted house inside the camp is that of Ahmad Jaddoun, a wounded Palestinian prisoner who is currently being held inside Palestinian Authority prisons.

In a statement, the Al Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Hamas movement, said that its fighters are currently engaging with an Israeli military unit inside the camp.

“Our fighters (…)successfully detonated multiple vehicles belonging to the occupying army using side explosives. The explosions caused direct casualties and significant damage. Our fighters continue to engage with the occupation army on multiple fronts to prevent their advance inside the camp,” the statement read.

Palestinian sources also said that the power outage inside the camp resulted from Israeli military firing at the electric grids in Jenin.

The latest raid on Jenin followed a major Israeli invasion of the camp on July 3, which resulted in the killing of 12 Palestinians and the wounding of over 120 more.

Gaza Targeted

In besieged Gaza, a 25-year-old Palestinian, Youssef Salem Radwan, was killed and another 11 Palestinians were wounded when the Israeli military attacked Palestinian protesters near the fence separating Gaza from Israel.

The most violent of the Israeli responses to Palestinian protests took place at the fence east of the city of Khan Yunis, which is located in the southern Gaza Strip.

Palestine Chronicle correspondent in Gaza said that Palestinian protesters have gathered near the fence for the last three days, protesting against the repeated raids on Al-Aqsa mosque by illegal Israeli Jewish settlers.

Last Thursday, five Palestinians were killed and others were wounded. Some of them were killed as a result of an explosive device that detonated near the fence. Others were shot and wounded by Israeli gunfire.

Gaza has been under hermetic Israeli siege since 2007, and the vast majority of the population is unable to leave or return to Gaza.

Several major Israeli wars were launched against the besieged Strip during this period, resulting in the death and wounding of thousands of Palestinians, mostly civilians.

Palestinian Authority security agents arrested on Sunday evening a former Palestinian prisoner wanted by Israel near the Jenin refugee camp.

Palestinian Authority security agents arrested on Sunday evening a former Palestinian prisoner wanted by Israel at a shop near the entrance to the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, the Middle East Monitor reported.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that a PA security patrol arrested Ahmed Gadoun, 25, known as “The Rocket”, near Al-Amal Hospital. He was taken to an unknown destination.

Israeli media have reported “understandings” between the PA and the occupation forces to arrest resistance fighters in areas of the West Bank.

In response to the PA’s arrest of people wanted by the Israeli occupation authorities, Resistance fighters fired bullets at the presidential headquarters in Jenin.

Gadoun was wounded by shrapnel during his arrest in September 2020, when Israeli special forces stormed the Jenin camp and blew up the gate and walls of his house.

He and his brother were sleeping meters away from the explosion and were injured as a result. They were arrested formally while on ambulance stretchers.

HGadoun was sentenced by the Israelis to 22 months in prison and suffered from medical negligence. His mother died during his detention.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Committee has decided to inscribe the ancient Palestinian city of Jericho, also known as Tell es-Sultan, on the World Heritage List.

The decision was taken during the 45th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.

The inclusion of this historic site on the prestigious list means recognition of the immense cultural and historical significance of Ancient Jericho, located in the Jordan Valley region, east of the occupied West Bank.

Jericho is renowned as one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, with a history spanning thousands of years.

The ancient city boasts remarkable archaeological findings, including evidence of its ancient fortifications and early human settlements, as well as the iconic Hisham’s Palace mosaic. These archaeological treasures offer invaluable insights into the region’s history, culture, and civilization.

The Tell es-Sultan site has been under excavation for over a century and yielded the remains of a fortified city that bills itself as the oldest continuously inhabited settlement on the planet.

The decision to add Jericho/Tel Sultan to the World Heritage List represents a significant recognition of the importance of preserving and protecting cultural heritage in the face of ongoing challenges and threats. It is also seen as a step towards fostering international cooperation and promoting a greater understanding of the rich history and heritage of the region.
