Member of the Executive Committee of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hanan Ashrawi, said on Sunday that “if the US continues to threaten to withdraw from multilateral organizations that recognize Palestine, it will find itself outside most international bodies.”
She said the US and Israel “have decided to stand at odds with these basic principles and with an international organization tasked with serving our basic humanity.”
“The US and Israel have taken an organization with a mandate to contribute to peace and security through education, science and culture and have politicized it to a despicable degree in an effort to provide cover for Israeli impunity and lawlessness.”Ashrawi remarked.

She expressed surprise over US’s allegations that UNESCO is biased against Israel for defending international norms, conventions and law.
“A more constructive approach for the US, especially if it is keen on peace as it claims, would be to hold Israel accountable for its flagrant violation of Palestinians rights and make it adhere to international law and fulfill its international obligations,” she concluded.
