An Israeli court has upheld the seven-year prison sentence for former President Moshe Katsav who has been convicted of rape and sexual harassment charges.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court of the Israeli regime rejected Katsav’s appeal against his conviction, upholding the prison sentence that was issued in March, Reuters reported.

The 65-year-old former Israeli president must report to prison on December 7.

In December, Katsav was convicted for twice raping a victim when he was Israel’s tourism minister in the late 1990s.

He was also convicted for sexually harassment of two women who worked for him during his term as president from 2000 to 2007 as well as indecent conduct and obstruction of justice.

The Tel Aviv lower court said Katsav’s testimony had been “riddled with lies.”

Katsav is the highest-ranking Israeli official ever sentenced to prison.

The Israeli court ruling comes as an Israeli rabbi, Mordechai (Moti) Elon, was indicted on November 2 over two cases of sexually abusing two teenagers in 2003 and 2005.
