First there was Munir Abu Kishk. Now, Hala al-Qadi, Palestine’s new champion at the Asian Game, underway in China. Both have made history.
Palestine’s second medal ever at the Asian Games was achieved on Thursday. It carried the signature of young champion, Hala al-Qadi.
The exiting match was held in Hangzhou, China as part of the Asian Games, which began on September 23, 2023.
Al-Qadi won the bronze medal in the karate competition (kumite) under 68 kg came after defeating Gu Zhao of Chinese Taipei by six points to three.
Al-Qadi jumped with joy after her deserved victory, among shouts of excitement from her teammates and many spectators.

Palestine had participated in the Asian Games since 1999. This is the second bronze medal to be one by team Palestine at the pan-Asian competition.
The first one was awarded to Palestinian boxer Munir Abu Kishk in 2002, during the 2002 Busan Games in South Korea.
The Palestinian news agency, WAFA, said that Al-Qadi had “prepared for the Games by participating in the Pan Arab Games in Algeria last July, where she won the silver medal.”
