The Hamas movement marked its 29th anniversary on Wednesday, as the Palestinian resistance group vowed to continue fighting Israel until the end of the occupation.
“Conspirators thought that by killing our leaders and sons, they would swerve our compass,” Hamas politburo spokesman Khalil al-Haya said during a speech in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Al-Haya said that Hamas would remained focused on liberating Jerusalem, and would stay faithful to its goals and values until it achieved victory.
Meanwhile, Palestinians marched in the streets of the Gaza neighborhood of Shujayyah in celebration of the anniversary.
The anniversary of the founding of the Islamist movement was moved from Dec. 14 to fall on the anniversary of the beginning of the first Intifada on Dec. 8, 1987, seen as an overture to other Palestinian factions.
