The Gaza Community Mental Health Program (GCMHP) published a press release on the World Mental Health Day acknowledged on October 10 stating that 30% of Gaza’s two million people suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

The statement read, “While Palestine suffers in general, the Gaza Strip still suffers in particular, due to the continuing deterioration of  the political and humanitarian situation, where the Israeli occupation continues its practices and violations and to further tighten the siege of Gaza.”

This situation, the statement added, “increases the rate of poverty and restricts freedom of movement, which increases the physiological suffering of Palestinians, and increases physical violence.”

The program called for providing protection for the Palestinian people against any future Israeli attack, and to pressure Israel to implement by human rights and the principles of international law during the time of war.
