The US Consul General in Jerusalem Donald Bloom said his country would study any proposal submitted by the Palestinians at the United Nations Security Council to condemn Israeli settlements before voting for or against it.
He told Alayam local newspaper that the US would “study the proposed resolution properly, analyze its discourse, and decide whether to support it or not.”
He warned, “The US sees facts on the ground that go against a two-state solution, and it is a source of concern and places obstacles in the path this being realized.” Bloom warned that maintaining the status quo will lead to creating a one-state reality.

Bloom refused to comment on whether President Obama plans to set parameters for Palestinians and Israelis before leaving office, saying, “I can’t say that there are additional steps to be taken by the American administration before the elections, but what I can say is that the US is still determined and focused regarding this issue as it always was during his (Obama’s) term.”
Bloom concluded that the Palestinian Authority should be empowered in areas C and house demolitions in Jerusalem and area C should stop, noting that the US “is gravely concerned because of the continuing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.”
