The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the recent announcements to build more settlements in the West Bank “pose no obstacle to peace.”
The Israeli statement came after the US Department of the State and the White House have criticized the Israeli move to build more settlements in the West Bank. Israel decided to build 300 new housing units in the settlement of Shilo last week.
The Israeli statement read, “98 new housing units to be built are not considered new. These units will be built on state land and will not expand outside the lands of the current settlement.”

The Israeli statement added, “Israel is committed to a two-state solution and the only obstacle to realize this solution is the Palestinian refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, and not Israel’s plans to build more settlements.”
The White House has issued a statement that refused Israel’s plan to build 300 housing units in the Shilo settlement.
The statement read, “We did receive public assurances from the Israeli government that contradict this announcement. When we’re talking about how good friends treat one another, that’s a source of serious concern as well.”
