The Palestine Arab Quarter Committee, which is in charge of ending Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian Territories, is set to meet today in Cairo at the headquarters of the Arab League, to discuss efforts to end the Israeli occupation and settlements.

The meeting will be headed by the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shukri, and will be attended by the Palestinian Foreign Minister, Riyad al-Mmaliki, Jordanian Foreign Affairs Minister, Bishr al-Khasawneh, in addition to a representative of Morocco and the head of the Arab League, Ahmed Abulgeet.

The permanent representative of Palestine to the Arab League, Jamal Alshobaki, said the meeting came at the request of Palestine in order to work on issuing a resolution at the United Nations Security Council to stop Israeli settlements and to move to end the Israeli occupation based on a specific time-frame.

He added that the committee will discuss various options to counter Israeli violations.

He noted that the Arab League meeting was discussed during the General Assembly meetings in the UN earlier last month.
