The Committee to Support Palestinian Journalists has called for international support to Palestinian journalists against Israeli violations in order to allow them to fulfill their missions.
The Committee warned against continuing Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists who follow the standards of professional and transparent work.
The committee stressed in a new report that Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists and media workers have increased drastically since the outbreak of the current Palestinian uprising in the West Bank.
The report noted that October of 2015 has seen the largest number of violations against Palestinian journalists covering the situation in the West Bank’s various cities and towns.

The committed called for wider support for Palestinian journalists on various platforms, especially as 26 of them are still in Israeli jails.
The report urged international organizations to provide more protection for Palestinian journalists,noting that Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 10 of the European Pact on Human Rights have called for freedom of expression without any restrictions and harassment.

The report further revealed that 489 Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists have taken place since October 2015. 79 Palestinian journalists have been detained by Israel during the same period, with 32 of them having their detention orders extended.
It also added that the Israeli occupation authorities have shut down four Palestinian radio stations since October 2015. The Israeli army has warned its intention to shut down five more Palestinian media institutions.
