UK Foreign Office files have revealed that Israel sold weapons to Argentina in 1982, which were used against British forces during the battle over the territory in the Falklands War.

Prior to the war, Israel exported Skyhawk jets to Argentina which were used to bomb British warship.

The files have also revealed that British foreign minister at the time, Sir Geoffrey Howe, talked Israel out of selling spy-planes to Argentina which were to be used to gather electronic and signals’ intelligence from the British.

Initially, Israeli officials denied any arms sales to Argentina, but dropped their claim by 1984 justifying their actions by claiming instead that the UK sells arms to “enemy” Arab states.
