Frej’s remarks were made in a radio interview following a visit by retired Saudi general, Anwar Eshki, who headed a delegation of academics and businessmen, to Israel in July.

Frej stated that the Saudi delegation expressed its wish to strengthen relations with Israel, adding that the delegation will include left-wing Knesset members and other figures.
Israel’s Jerusalem Post newspaper also reported former Israeli Minister for Diaspora Affairs, Rabbi Michael Melchior, saying that Israelis may be able to visit the Gulf state “much sooner than you dream about.”
