Ramy Hamdallah, the Palestinian Prime Minister, has called on Israel to open its West Bank border with Jordan permanently to allow Palestinian travelers to cross freely without any delay.
Hamdallah’s statement came during a visit he made today to the border crossing: “The Palestinian leadership and government is doing its best to make it easy for Palestinian travelers.”

Hamdallah said he listened to the concerns and problems of Palestinians travelling, stressing that the current crisis “is Israeli-made, and the Palestinian government is doing its best, yet Israel controls the crossing.”
“We call on Israel to open the crossing 24/7 just like the rest of the world, and we call on Europeans and Americans to intervene and make Israel open the crossing 24/7 as it has done with the Sheikh Hussein crossing (which connects it with Jordan).”

He clarified that while there is a Jordanian agreement to open the border permanently, it is Israel who refuses to do.
