Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said that there has been a “revolution” in Israel’s relations with Arab states, adding that it has penetrated the region, according to the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz.

“The merger of our military and economic strengths has enhanced Israel’s political power,” he said, adding, “We are at the peak of a very big shift in our relations with important Arab states.”

Netanyahu’s was speaking at the National Security College in Glilot, outside Tel Aviv.

He said that Arab states do not see Israel as an enemy, but rather as an ally against the growing threat of Islamic extremism, whether this threat comes from Sunni powers such as Daesh or from Shia Iran, Haaretz reported.

Netanyahu said, “The normalization of advancing relations with the Arab world could help to advance peace – a more sober, stable and better-backed peace – between us and the Palestinians”.

Bloomberg news agency quoted a former senior Israeli official as saying that Israel had carried out drone strikes in Sinai with Egypt’s consent.
