A Palestinian man died on Thursday evening from wounds sustained in clashes last week in Ramallah’s al-Bireh city, medics said.
Mahmoud Said Ulayyan, 20, was shot in the head during clashes with Israeli forces on Nov. 11 during a demonstration to mark the anniversary of the death of Yasser Arafat.
Ulayyan was moved to a hospital in Jerusalem for treatment before returning to the Ramallah governmental hospital Wednesday evening. The reason for his transfer is unknown.
He is from the village of Anata in East Jerusalem and was a senior nursing student at the Modern College in Ramallah.
Last week, large rallies were held in Hebron, Ramallah, Bethlehem, and other West Bank cities to commemorate the late president’s death in 2004, with crowds of people waving Palestinian flags and carrying portraits of Arafat.
In al-Bireh, Israeli forces shot and injured more than 70 Palestinian youths with live fire and rubber-coated steel bullets, including Ulayyan, during clashes in the al-Balou area in the northern part of the city.
