A roadside bomb has detonated near a secured convoy carrying Israeli diplomatic staff as the cars were making their way to Amman, Jordan.

The blast occurred at around 5 p.m. (1500 GMT) close to the Allenby Bridge crossing between Jordan and the occupied Palestinian territory of West Bank, according Israel’s Army Radio.

Press TV’s Shirin Yassin reported that the explosion was caused by a car that detonated near the Israeli convoy.

No one was hurt in the incident and the vehicles continued to their destination shortly thereafter. Channel Two television said Tel Aviv’s ambassador to Jordan, Danny Nevo, was not in either vehicle.

The report added the occupants were staff and bodyguards, the convoy had continued over Allenby and that at least one of the cars was lightly damaged.

Jordanian security authorities have launched an investigation into the blast with the Shin Bet (the Israeli security agency) cooperating with the Jordanians in the investigation.

Israel’s embassy employees were put on a 24-hour lock-down, and are not allowed to leave the embassy premises.

The embassy in Amman is one of the most highly guarded Israeli embassies in the world.
