A report has indicated that Israeli troops are knowingly using a deadly tear gas against Palestinians who take part in peaceful demonstrations.
The report followed the death of a Palestinian woman, who lost her life after inhaling gas fired by Israeli troops.
The Israeli military uses crowd-dispersal tear gas, known as CS, which was developed half a century ago in Britain and the United States, Ha’aretz reported on Monday.
There have been reports of several deaths caused by the inhalation of CS tear gas in recent years.
"One of the main factors influencing the extent of damage caused by CS gas is the amount of particles in the air," said Israeli doctor Daniel Argo.
On Saturday, 36-year-old Jawaher Abu Rahmah was killed by Israeli soldiers after suffering intense tear gas inhalation during a rally in the village of Bilin.
The medical report filed at the Ramallah medical center where Abu Rahmah was taken shows that her death was caused by respiratory failure resulting from the inhalation of tear gas.
The Palestinian Authority denounced Israel’s killing of the Palestinian woman as a "war crime."
At least 10 other people, among them international activists, were injured on Friday when Israeli troops fired tear gas to disperse demonstrators protesting the controversial Israeli separation wall in the occupied West Bank.
