A political activist says the Scotland to Gaza aid convoy has been denied entry despite receiving legal permission from all venues to enter the Rafah crossing.
In an interview with Press TV, Dr. Hasan Nowarah, member of the Scottish aid convoy, said that there was no excuse to refuse entry.
“While he (a border official) was interviewing me, to my surprise, he opened his folders and I saw with my own eyes…all our details were there…they were aware of us coming there,” Nowarah said.
“We obtained all the necessary information and visas for our vehicles, for our aid convoys, for our cars – everything to enter into Gaza,” he added.
The Scottish convoy left the United Kingdom for Gaza but had encountered an extensive delay in Italy and port of Alexandria, Egypt, only later to have been rejected at the Rafah crossing.
The convoy is reflective of the Freedom Flotilla II which was named after the first such mission, which Israel attacked on May 31, 2010 in international waters, killing nine Turkish activists and injuring around 50 others.
In 2007, Israel imposed a crippling blockade on the territory triggering a humanitarian crisis
Some 1.5 million people in Gaza are being denied their basic rights, including the freedom of movement and the right to appropriate living conditions, work, health and education.
