Dries van Agt, the former Prime Minister of the Netherlands, has described Benjamin Netanyahu, as a war criminal and stated that he should be tried in the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
Netanyahu’s visit to the Netherlands for the bilateral Dutch-Israeli Cooperation Forum this week, has sparked protests in the Dutch capital.
Van Agt, 85, told television station, NPO 1, “There’s a war criminal coming to this country,” adding, “The occupation and expansion… building of settlements, of occupied territory …is a war crime.”

Van Agt’s response to Netanyahu’s visit was clearly expressed in his words: “why should we receive someone who continues with such things?” He said, “We could have sent him straight away to the international criminal court – that would have been better.”
Van Agt has a long record of interest in Palestinian affairs. In 2014 he was among the signatories of an open letter calling for Palestinian unity.
